Chapter 1052: Did You Make a Wish

As the clock hit midnight, fireworks boomed across Golombia. Evelyn lit one, watched it soar, and burst. She made a silent wish.

She wished Joshua could walk again.

"Evelyn, did you make a wish?" Ruby whispered.

Evelyn nodded. "Yeah, but I can't tell you."

"I get it, if you say it, it won't come true. I made one too," Ruby said, smiling at the fireworks.

After the show, everyone chatted a bit before leaving. Ruby got into Alex's car and waved. "Happy New Year, Evelyn."

"Happy New Year," Evelyn replied.

Soon, it was just Evelyn, Dermot, and Joshua.

Dermot ignored Joshua and went straight to Evelyn. "Happy New Year, Evelyn."

"Happy New Year," she replied. "Oh, wait a sec."

She remembered she forgot the New Year gift and dashed back to Joshua's villa.

Dermot watched her go, glancing at the gift he hadn't given yet, feeling amused.

Evelyn returned with a gift box. "Here's your New Year gift."

"Thanks, I have something for you too," Dermot said, handing over his gift.

Evelyn smiled, took it, and said, "We're heading back now; you should rest."

"Okay," Dermot nodded and waved.

Evelyn and Joshua went back to the villa. Inside, Evelyn saw another gift waiting. "Happy New Year, Evelyn," Joshua said.

"Happy New Year, Joshua," she replied, taking the gift.

She had already given Joshua his gift earlier, so she had nothing more to give.

"Good night," Joshua said.

"Good night," Evelyn said, waving as she went to her room. She was curious about Dermot's gift.

Watching her leave, Joshua's face darkened. "Go prepare."

Brandon was confused at first but then understood and smiled. "Alright, I'll get on it."

In her room, Evelyn opened Dermot's gift and found a ring with a huge pink diamond.

Inside the box was a note: "Evelyn, I hope I have the honor of placing this ring on your finger."

"Childish," Evelyn muttered, but she smiled.

She then opened Joshua's gift. Inside was a golden scarf, perfect for New Year's.

Joshua had clearly put thought into it. It wasn't flashy, but practical and thoughtful. He must have hoped she'd wear it.

Evelyn put on the scarf and walked out. Joshua was still downstairs. "Joshua, thanks for the gift. I really like it."

Joshua looked up and saw the scarf. His smile widened. "I'm glad you like it."

"Get some rest; we have to get up early tomorrow," Evelyn reminded him, as it was a Golombia tradition.

"Okay," Joshua nodded. He didn't sleep in anyway.

As Evelyn's door closed, Joshua took a deep breath to calm down.

How could he ever let such a wonderful person belong to someone else?
