Chapter 738: You Don't Need to Explain to Me
Seeing Evelyn about to leave, Geoffrey hurriedly followed, "Evelyn, there's nothing between me and her, please don't misunderstand."
He kept explaining that there was nothing between him and Lisa as he followed behind Evelyn, but Evelyn felt indifferent. Whether there was something between them or not, she didn't care.
Geoffrey chased her all the way to the hospital entrance, showing no signs of stopping, which made Evelyn feel helpless.
She stopped, turned to Geoffrey, and said, "Sorry, I don't care whether there's something between you and Lisa. You don't need to explain anything to me; there's nothing between us either."
Seeing this, Geoffrey knew he couldn't delay any longer. He prepared himself mentally and looked at Evelyn sincerely, saying, "Evelyn, actually, I have something to tell you today."
Unfortunately, Evelyn was unmoved by his gaze and even felt a bit annoyed.
After a moment, Geoffrey gathered his thoughts and slowly began, "Evelyn, actually, when we attended our alma mater's anniversary celebration in Moris City, I had a crush on you the moment I saw you."
Evelyn felt awkward. Geoffrey had mocked her for she was at Moris Hospital.
As if knowing what she was thinking, Geoffrey continued to explain, "I deliberately said those things to you back then to get your attention. I had never done that before, so my words were a bit inappropriate. Later, I reflected on it and realized I was wrong.
"I'm sorry. I'm not hoping you'll immediately agree to date me, but hoping you'll give me a chance," Geoffrey said sincerely, gazing at her. If Evelyn didn't know him well, she might have been fooled.
"Are you done?" Evelyn asked.
Geoffrey nodded, anxiously waiting for her response.
However, Evelyn's answer was destined to disappoint him. "No matter what feelings you have for me, I'm not interested in you. I wasn't before, I'm not now, and I won't be in the future."
Evelyn didn't want to be so harsh, but given the situation, if she didn't make it clear, Geoffrey might still think she was interested in him.
Evelyn still had to work at the hospital in the future. She couldn't be pestered by him every day, so it was better to make things clear once and for all.
Perhaps Evelyn's rejection was too thorough, Geoffrey's face turned a bit sour. "Evelyn, can't you give me a chance?"
Geoffrey thought he was good-looking and had a decent job. Although he wasn't as wealthy as Evelyn, he had never been married.
In Geoffrey's mind, a divorced Evelyn was different from someone who had never been married. He even felt that as such an excellent man willing to marry a divorced woman, he was the one at a disadvantage.
"Sorry," Evelyn said.
Geoffrey's face turned a bit gloomy. Evelyn didn't give him any chance, making him feel a bit embarrassed.
But he still held back his anger and smiled, "It's okay, I won't give up."
Evelyn remained silent.
After that, Geoffrey didn't continue talking to Evelyn and turned to leave, seemingly not wanting to hear any more of her rejections.
Evelyn felt speechless about this, thinking, 'Not giving up? He sounds like he really likes me.'
While Evelyn was feeling speechless, a figure appeared in her sight.
She thought, 'Is that Dermot?
'Has he come back from Moris City?'
Evelyn's first reaction was whether he had heard her conversation with Geoffrey just now.
"Ms. Kyte, you sure have a lot of admirers. Every time I see you, you're with a different man." Dermot had already walked up to her, his words carrying a hint of sarcasm.
