Chapter 848 Are You Going to Help Her Against Me?
When Evelyn heard the news, she finally felt relieved. Things weren't as bad as she had imagined.
She stopped worrying about it. In her mind, as long as Lucia left, everything would be fine.
She went to work as every other day, and maybe because she'd been at Golombia Hospital for a while, her reputation was growing. More and more people were coming to see her, and Evelyn felt a sense of accomplishment again.
After a busy day, she was exhausted.
She changed clothes and headed out, planning to get home early and rest. But then, Peter showed up out of nowhere.
Evelyn hadn't seen Peter's photo before, but there he was at the hospital entrance in a black training suit. She could guess who he was without much effort.
"Are you Evelyn?" Peter asked, clearly having done his investigation.
Evelyn nodded and asked, "Are you Peter?"
"Yeah. Where's Jennifer? I heard she disappeared after challenging you," Peter said, looking straight at her.
"Don't say it like that. People might think I did something to her. She's fine and living her life," Evelyn replied, thinking Jennifer was indeed doing better now.
Peter didn't really care about Jennifer's well-being and cut to the chase. "You know why I'm here. Pick a place; avoiding it won't help."
Evelyn was speechless. Avoiding? She'd been waiting for him to show up all this time.
Even students from the same teacher could be different. Peter was clearly not as likable as Jennifer.
"Alright, follow me," Evelyn said, not wanting to waste time and not afraid of him.
She led Peter to the underground parking lot, where there were usually few people. She picked a corner where they wouldn't be seen.
Before they could start, Jennifer appeared. "Peter, can we talk this out without fighting?"
Peter was surprised at first, then sneered. "No wonder you haven't contacted me. You've been subdued."
"Subdued? I found a new boss. Evelyn treats me well, so of course, I can't let you bully her," Jennifer said, standing next to Evelyn, making her stance clear.
Peter frowned. He knew Jennifer's skills. She wasn't a match for him one-on-one, but if she teamed up with Evelyn, he wasn't so sure.
He frowned and asked, "Are you going to help her against me?"
"Since Evelyn is my boss now, of course, I'll help her," Jennifer smiled.
Peter's face darkened, and Jennifer continued, "Peter, if we team up, you might not win. Why not just let it go? Your relationship with Nathan isn't that great anyway."
Alvin's students weren't particularly close and wouldn't go out of their way to fight for each other.
Hearing this, Peter didn't back down but looked directly at Evelyn. "In that case, I'll be honest. The reason I agreed to come after you for Emerald isn't entirely for Nathan."
"Then what is it for?" Jennifer asked curiously before Evelyn could.
