Chapter 1170: Is It Necessary to Investigate
"Nope, we had no clue your dad was hunting for Bella before you showed up," Timothy shot back.
Evelyn's brow furrowed. This whole mess was way more tangled than she thought.
If it wasn't the Calderons, then who the heck was it?
Could her dad really have an enemy lurking in Seabrook City?
She dropped her head, lost in thought.
Timothy was done wasting time. "We've spilled all we know. Time for you to bounce. The Calderon family doesn't want you around, so let's make this the last time we cross paths."
Evelyn couldn't help but chuckle. "You know, I should be calling you Grandpa and Grandma. What's the big deal with my parents being together? My dad's not that bad, is he?"
"Shut it!" Timothy snapped, "I'm not your grandpa. Bella went behind our backs and had you with that man. You're a bastard. Remember, you got no ties to the Calderon family!"
His words oozed with disgust, like Evelyn's Calderon blood was a stain on the family.
"Huh, a bastard?" She sneered. First time she'd heard that one.
She looked up, her eyes turning icy. "Don't worry, I don't give a damn about the Calderon family."
"You better not have hurt my dad. If I find out you're lying, I'll make sure the Calderon family vanishes."
With that, Evelyn stood up and headed for the door.
Just as she reached it, she turned back. "Where did my mom go after she left?"
Timothy's face twisted, like he was scared of something. "I don't know. After she left, we stopped looking. Haven't heard from her in decades."
If Evelyn hadn't shown up today, they would've almost forgotten they had a daughter.
"Wow, you guys are real model parents." With a cold laugh, Evelyn walked out of the Calderon house.
Timothy and Constance just stood there, her words hitting them hard.
At first, they thought Evelyn was a lot like Bella, but now they saw they were nothing alike.
Bella had always been gentle and weak. The wildest thing she did was run away from the Calderons and have Evelyn with Blake.
Even though today's chat was short, they could see Evelyn was a tough cookie.
Timothy snapped out of it and gave an order. "Get someone to dig into Blake's disappearance in Seabrook City. Something's fishy."
"Honey, do we really have to? What does his safety have to do with us?" Constance didn't want anything to do with Blake.
"We have to. Even if we can't find him, we need proof that his disappearance isn't on us," Timothy insisted.
"If Evelyn teams up with the Doyle and Allen families against us, we're toast." Even in Seabrook City, they couldn't stand up to the combined power of the three big families.
So, he couldn't take that risk.
Evelyn walked out of the Calderon house, and Howard was still waiting for her at the door. Seeing her, he rushed over. "Ms. Kyte, you okay?"
"I'm fine, but the Calderons claim they had no idea my dad was looking for my mom." The situation was at a standstill, and Evelyn was stumped for now.
