Chapter 87 Shall I Wait for You?

Dermot didn't wait at the hospital for Evelyn to finish the surgery. In the end, he decided to come back tomorrow. After all, Grandpa Doyle's birthday is the day after tomorrow, and he still has time to invite her tomorrow.

Just as he was about to get into the car and go to the company, Natalie called him, "Dermot, are you free this afternoon? Come and go shopping with me. It's been two years since I came back, Moris City has changed a lot."

"Sorry, I'm busy this afternoon," Dermot refused, if it wasn't for the matter with Evelyn, he would have agreed.

But after the incident with Evelyn, he had developed an inexplicable aversion towards the Barns family, and knowing that Evelyn didn't like Natalie, for some reason, he didn't want to get too close to Natalie either.

Natalie on the other end of the phone didn't expect to be rejected. She felt angry but didn't lose her temper. Instead, she said, "Grandpa Doyle's birthday is the day after tomorrow, and I want to choose a gift for him, but I don't know what he likes, so I..."

Through the phone, Dermot could almost see the grievance on her face.

For a moment, Dermot hesitated.

"Natalie, I thought that no matter how long we haven't seen each other, we would still be friends. Now it seems that it was just my own wishful thinking." She said, sounding sad.

Dermot frowned and he said, "Where are you? I'll come pick you up."

In the end, he agreed. Natalie was considered a friend to him.

To lose.

During those years, besides the care of his grandfather, Natalie's presence as a friend also helped him a lot. He couldn't be so heartless.

"I'm at home," Natalie smiled, "Should I wait for you?"

"Alright."

Hanging up the phone, Dermot drove towards the Barns family.

At six o'clock in the afternoon, after surgery, Evelyn walked out of the operating room with Marina chattering by her side.

"Dr. Kyte, you're amazing," Marina admired Evelyn after watching the whole surgery.

Evelyn remained indifferent and said, "It's nothing special. Neurosurgeons all perform surgeries like this. You might have seen too few of them."

"Not at all," Marina retorted, "I have seen surgeries performed by other doctors, but when they do it, they are not as effortless as you."

"Maybe it's just practice," she explained.

While talking, Evelyn returned to her office to pack up and prepare to leave work.

Marina smiled and said, "Dr. Kyte, let me treat you to dinner."

Evelyn glanced at her, crossed her arms, and scrutinized her with her eyes, "Do you have something to ask me?"

"Well, I need your help with a small matter," Marina smiled, and said, "In a few days, I'm going to attend a birthday banquet. My dad entrusted me with the responsibility of choosing a gift, but I have no idea."

"So, you want me to help you pick a gift?" she asked.

"Yes, I think you are more mature than me and more thoughtful. The gift you choose will be better than mine." Marina thought of asking Evelyn for help on a whim, but most importantly, it was an opportunity to get closer to her.

Evelyn looked at her phone. No one was looking for her tonight, and she was bored. She nodded and said, "Alright, but I can't guarantee that the gift I choose will please the person."

After all, it's important to choose a gift that suits the recipient's taste.

Judging from Marina's words, she didn't know what the birthday star likes, and it was difficult to choose something they would like.

"It's okay, just do your best. They won't care about my gift," after all, the recipient was Grandpa Doyle from the Doyle family. He wouldn't value her stuff.

As long as it's decent and not too embarrassing, that is her father's requirement.
