Chapter 1105: Bastard
When Aidan and Niall finally tracked down Dermot, Evelyn had already taken off with Joshua hours ago.
They caught wind of a shooting at the airport on the news and tried to hit up Evelyn, only to find out she was already airborne and out of reach.
They cornered Dermot to get the lowdown on what went down and who the shooting was aimed at.
Dermot, clearly annoyed but still straight-up, said, "Probably Joshua's enemies."
"Evelyn didn't get hurt, right?" They asked, knowing Dermot saw her leave.
Dermot shook his head, gave them a look, and figured they were clueless about Joshua's plan. He said, "She wasn't hurt, but she got forced onto the plane at gunpoint by Brandon."
"What?" Both of them were floored.
Brandon pulled a gun on her?
They were scratching their heads.
Wasn't Brandon Joshua's right-hand man?
"Joshua's fine; it was all his setup. Evelyn probably didn't clue you in, did she?" Dermot said, checking a message from Todd on his phone, which had the plane's destination.
But Dermot figured the plane would land somewhere else since Joshua got shot and would likely need to stop.
He told Todd to keep tabs on it, then looked up at the two stunned guys and broke it down for them.
They were left speechless after hearing Dermot's explanation.
Turns out, Joshua had this whole twisted plan to keep Evelyn with him forever. Both of them were boiling with rage.
"This Joshua dude is a real piece of work," Niall said, snapping out of his shock. "Aidan, we gotta save Evelyn. We can't let Joshua get away with this."
Thinking of Evelyn in Joshua's clutches, he wanted to bolt out and find her right then and there.
Aidan nodded. "Yeah, I'm booking a flight abroad right now."
Seeing him about to bounce, Dermot chimed in, "Don't bother. Even if you find her, you don't have what it takes to save Evelyn."
"Dermot!" Aidan snapped, thinking Dermot was being too harsh.
"Am I wrong? Do you even know who Joshua really is?" Dermot asked, finding Aidan's naivety laughable.
It was Aidan who brought Joshua into their lives in the first place; otherwise, none of this mess would have happened.
But Dermot kept that to himself. After all, Aidan was Evelyn's brother, and he knew how much she cared about her brothers. She might ditch Joshua, but Aidan and Niall, who were like family to her, she would never abandon.
Knowing they'd be seeing each other often, Dermot held back a bit.
He pulled out a file and handed it to Aidan. "Take a good look. The Joshua you know isn't the real Joshua."
Aidan took it, and Niall leaned in to read too. Both of them looked serious as they went through the file.
Aidan had no clue Joshua was a mercenary leader; it never even crossed his mind.
To him, Joshua was just a smart and capable guy. How could he be the same as the infamous mercenary leader?
Closing the file, Aidan felt deflated. "You're right. I'm no match for him."
Not to mention, Aidan might not even find Joshua, and even if he did, he probably wouldn't stand a chance against him.
