Chapter 1332 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (7)

When Phoebe rolled up to the hospital, Evelyn was right there to meet her and personally took her for the check-up. After checking out the results and seeing everything was cool, Evelyn finally let out a sigh of relief.

Phoebe saw all this and felt a mix of emotions bubbling up inside.

"Thanks." They stood at the hospital entrance, and Phoebe glanced at Evelyn. Besides saying thanks, she really didn't know what else to say.

If Evelyn hadn't convinced Aidan to step up and take care of the baby, Phoebe had no clue where she'd be now.

Maybe she'd be juggling baby care and hospital visits all on her own.

Sure, she wouldn't be totally broke with the cash Aidan gave her, but it wouldn't be anything like this.

She felt nothing but gratitude toward Evelyn.

"I'm sorry!" Before Evelyn could say anything, Phoebe blurted out.

Evelyn looked surprised. "Why apologize?"

Phoebe dropped her gaze, avoiding Evelyn's eyes. "I messed up before," she admitted. She'd owed Evelyn this apology for so long and wasn't even sure if saying sorry now still meant anything.

Evelyn laughed, like she was ready to let the past go. "I forgive you."

She didn't say there was no need to apologize; she forgave her.

Phoebe looked up and met Evelyn's eyes, realizing she was truly forgiven. At that moment, the heavy weight in her heart finally lifted.

Phoebe thought, 'She really is a good person.'

"Come on, let's get your baby's birth certificate sorted," Evelyn said.

Phoebe hopped into Evelyn's car and said, "His name is Theodore Brooks."

Evelyn was momentarily stunned, then smiled. "Theodore? That's a solid name."

"Yeah." Phoebe thought so too.

Evelyn quickly helped Phoebe get the birth certificate done. When she dropped her off at Aidan's place, she asked, "Have you thought about the baby shower? Aidan might not be into it, but I think you should start planning."

"I wasn't planning on having one." Phoebe bit her lip, feeling a bit guilty for some reason.

Evelyn frowned. "Why not?"

Phoebe stayed quiet, but Evelyn quickly got it and felt a bit frustrated. "Even if you and Aidan aren't married, what does that have to do with the baby? The baby shower is important; do you get that?"

"Evelyn."

"We have to throw a baby shower. Everyone needs to know that Theodore is your and Aidan's baby. Even if you two aren't married, he's still your baby and deserves all the love and attention." Evelyn looked at Phoebe, her tone serious.

She didn't think not being married was a reason to skip the baby shower. If they skipped it because they weren't married, what about next time?

Would the baby be ignored because his parents weren't married?

In the future, if the baby got picked on, would he be afraid to stand up for himself because his parents weren't married?

Even though she was raised by her grandpa, Evelyn faced teasing from classmates for not having parents. During those tender years, she was especially sensitive to such taunts.

Had her grandpa not later guided her, growing up might have been a lot tougher.

So, Evelyn didn't want to see this happen to Theodore. She wanted everyone, even Phoebe and Aidan, to understand that he was their baby. Whether or not his parents were married, he deserved all the love and attention.
