Chapter 1245: Giving You a Chance to Kill Me
"Yo, you got the guts? Then do it!" Craig stared her down. "I offed Alex. If you wanna get back at me, now's your shot."
Ruby clenched her teeth, stepping up with the knife. "Don't test me!"
"Test you? I'm giving you a shot. Didn't you always wanna be free? Here's your chance." Craig stood there, not even flinching.
Craig thought, maybe getting offed by her wouldn't be the worst thing.
All the crap he put her through might just fade away with his death.
In the next life, he'd find her and treat her right.
Ruby gripped the knife, knowing just a little push would end Craig.
She hated him so much, but she couldn't do it.
She loathed herself, but it was pointless.
After what felt like forever, she dropped the knife and glared at him. "I hate you, but I won't become you. I'll find proof and make sure you get what you deserve."
If she killed Craig now, with Evelyn around, she wouldn't get in trouble.
But then, how would she be any different from Craig?
Alex would never want her to go down that path.
Someone like Alex would want her to use the law to nail Craig.
Ruby walked away, leaving Craig on the ground.
He stared at the ceiling, smiling, but tears streamed down his face.
Maybe he really lost her for good.
That night, Evelyn and Dermot had just left the police station when Dermot got a call about Craig.
"Evelyn, Ruby went to see Craig," Dermot said.
Evelyn instantly got why Ruby had been so chill earlier. She probably thought Alex's accident was Craig's doing, so she went after him.
"Let's get over there. Who knows what might go down if we're late," Evelyn said, feeling uneasy about Ruby's calmness.
Dermot glanced at her. "It's already happened. Ruby stabbed Craig. He's in the hospital."
Evelyn was stunned. "Ruby..."
"Let's hit the hospital first," Dermot said, not sure what else to say.
Evelyn didn't say much and followed Dermot to the hospital.
In the hospital room, Craig looked okay but was clearly down. When they walked in, he didn't say a word or even look at them.
Dermot was worried and walked up to him. "You alright?"
"I'm fine," Craig snapped out of it and forced a smile.
But it was a bitter smile.
"What went down? Why would Ruby suddenly..." Dermot trailed off, seeing Craig's face go even paler. Just mentioning Ruby made him hurt more.
After a bit, Craig finally spoke. "What do you think? She thinks I caused Alex's accident."
"Did you?" Evelyn asked, still suspicious.
Craig looked at her but didn't answer. Instead, he looked at Dermot. "What do you think?"
Dermot's face darkened, and he looked at Evelyn. "It wasn't him. I know he didn't do it."
Evelyn pursed her lips. She didn't trust Craig, but she trusted Dermot.
"If it wasn't you, you should've told her. How'd it get this bad?" Even though Evelyn wasn't there, seeing Craig's injuries, it was clear things got intense between him and Ruby.
