Chapter 1341 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (16)
Phoebe was zoning out when Aidan strolled into the store, making a beeline for their group.
"Aidan's here," Evelyn pointed out. Phoebe snapped back to reality and glanced at Aidan.
"Evelyn," Aidan nodded at her, then turned to Phoebe. "How'd the hospital check-up go?"
"All good," Phoebe replied with a smile, feeling a bit jittery around Aidan.
Aidan didn't seem to care and plopped down next to her.
Soon enough, the waiter brought their food, and they chatted while munching.
When the topic of Theodore's baby shower came up, everyone jumped in, and even Aidan was chattier than usual.
Evelyn could tell Aidan had a soft spot for Theodore.
After dinner, the four of them strolled to the street. Evelyn said, "We're heading back now. Bye."
"Alright, drive safe," Aidan said, watching Evelyn and Dermot get into their car and take off.
Once the car was out of sight, he turned to Phoebe. "Hop in."
"Okay," Phoebe walked to the passenger side, opened the door, and got in.
In the car, it got quiet.
"Sorry for messing up your work," Phoebe finally blurted out after a bit.
Aidan frowned, not getting why she was apologizing. "Why do you say that?"
"Evelyn called you because of me. If it weren't for me..."
"It’s got nothing to do with you, and grabbing a meal doesn’t mess up my work much." Even though Evelyn did call him while he was busy, he didn’t blame Phoebe for it.
He could still tell right from wrong.
Seeing he wasn’t mad at her, Phoebe sighed in relief. "Do you have to go back to work?"
It was only eight, and knowing his usual hours, Aidan might still need to head back to the office.
Aidan replied, "No."
"Oh, getting some rest early is good too."
"Yeah."
The silence crept back in. Phoebe wanted to say something but was at a loss for words.
Soon, the car pulled into the villa, and they both got out and walked inside.
Since they got back early, Theodore was still up. The nanny was playing with him in the living room. When he saw them come in, he started giggling.
Aidan was drawn in and couldn’t help but walk over to look at Theodore in the nanny’s arms, a smile forming on his lips. "Theodore, you’re in a good mood."
"Theodore must be happy to see you," the nanny said.
Aidan reached out and took Theodore from the nanny’s arms. "Theodore, do you know me?"
Theodore kept laughing.
"Theodore seems to really like you, Mr. Brooks," the nanny continued.
At this moment, Phoebe also leaned in toward Theodore. "Theodore, I’m Mommy."
In the living room, the two of them played with Theodore. The scene was super chill. Who’d believe these two weren’t actually married?
They played with the baby in the living room for quite a while until it was Theodore’s bedtime, and they handed him back to the nanny.
"It’s rare for you to get off work early. You should go take a shower and rest," Phoebe said, watching Theodore being taken back to his room, then turned to Aidan.
Aidan snapped out of it, the smile still lingering on his face. "Alright, you should rest early too."
"Okay," Phoebe nodded, blushing. Even though she promised Evelyn to be more proactive, she still felt shy when Aidan looked at her.
She stood in the living room, watching Aidan go upstairs to his room, took a deep breath, and finally made a decision.
She had to keep trying, even if it was just for Theodore.
Whether it was really for Theodore or for herself, only Phoebe knew in her heart.
