Chapter 187 Against the Light
The person gradually approached and stood in front of Evelyn.
"Dermot?" Evelyn looked at the familiar man, her eyes full of disbelief, she could barely trust her own eyes.
"Yeah, can you walk?" finding someone, Dermot's mood was, seeing her still well, he wanted to embrace her in his arms.
But he didn't, he was afraid that such behavior would provoke Evelyn's aversion, so he had to be cautious.
Evelyn didn't have time to ask why Dermot appeared here, instead she lowered her head and looked at Ethan in her arms, "Could you help me carry him out?"
"Sure." The man didn't refuse.
Taking Ethan from Evelyn's hands, Dermot didn't rush to leave, he waited for Evelyn to go together.
After finding someone, he didn't want to let the other person vanish from his sight even for a second.
Leaning against the wall and enduring the pain in her right calf, Evelyn followed behind Dermot step by step.
Dermot noticed her discomfort, stopped, and bent down, "Come up, I'll carry you."
"No... no need, I can manage." Evelyn shook her head, how could she dare to let Dermot carry her? They weren't that close.
Who knows if he and Natalie had gotten married. Evelyn couldn't accept being carried by a married man.
"Either I carry you, or I put him down and carry you, you choose." The man spoke with a tone that brooked no argument.
Evelyn hesitated; she believed that Dermot was capable.
Gritting her teeth, she reluctantly said, "Don't put him down."
"Okay," the man bent down again.
Evelyn didn't refuse, every minute she delayed in this place meant an extra minute of danger.
Like this, Dermot held Ethan in his arms and carried Evelyn on his back, step by step towards the entrance of the cave.
The distance wasn't far, but it was difficult to walk because there were broken stones all the way.
But they were considered lucky as they safely reached the entrance of the cave.
Dermot handed Ethan out and before Evelyn could speak, he lifted her up and walked towards the outside of the cave.
Being held by Dermot, Evelyn could still smell the scent coming from the man, which was comforting, though she couldn't quite describe it.
"What's wrong with you? Are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere?" Successively coming out of the cave, Dermot looked down at the person in his arms with worry-filled eyes.
Evelyn and didn't even dare to make eye contact with the man.
"No? Then why is your face so red? Are you running a fever?" Saying that, he reached out to touch Evelyn's forehead.
"It doesn't feel like you have a fever." He spoke.
Evelyn's face became even redder.
She didn't have a fever; it just felt strange being held by Dermot like this, plus there were villagers watching around, making her feel embarrassed.
She pushed Dermot away, "You can put me down now."
"Okay," although unwilling, Dermot didn't refuse and put Evelyn down.
After keeping a certain distance from Dermot, Evelyn returned to normal and then looked at the person beside her, "How did you end up here?"
"What do you think?" Instead of answering Evelyn's question, he retorted with a question, but the look in his eyes was too direct. Although he didn't say it, Evelyn guessed it in an instant.
But... how could this be possible?
He came for her?
Evelyn had a lot of questions she wanted to ask, but didn't know how to initiate the conversation.
The village chief approached at this time. Seeing that Evelyn was fine, he breathed a sigh of relief, "Dr. Kyte, it's good to see you're okay."
"Your boyfriend is good to you. He flew a helicopter here to find you, and when the entrance was excavated, he went down without hesitation, such a great guy."
