Chapter 676: He Doesn't Need Comfort
Evelyn wanted to say that Wade was her family, but when the words were about to come out, she suddenly noticed Dermot's abnormal behavior.
She stared at Dermot, looking suspicious. "You seem to be meddling too much."
"Do you think I enjoy meddling? If it weren't for the fear of you affecting our cooperation, I wouldn't bother," Dermot sneered, full of disdain in his eyes.
"Is that so?" Evelyn still felt something was off.
It should be said that something was off from the moment Dermot called her. Since his disappearance, Dermot had never taken the initiative to call her.
Today, he called her again and provided her with information about the Roberts family. It didn't seem as simple as he made it out to be.
"What do you think it is then? Surely you don't think I'm concerned about you?" Dermot's words were laced with sarcasm, his eyes filled with contempt.
Evelyn did have this suspicion initially, but now, it was completely gone.
"It's best if it's not a concern. We're not close, Mr. Doyle, so please don't pry into my affairs in the future." Dermot's words were not pleasant, and she was the same.
Who wasn't a bit stubborn?
Dermot was truly annoyed and felt he had gone too far. "Rest assured, I'm not interested in your affairs."
"But I am quite interested in yours." Evelyn suddenly smiled. "What's the relationship between you and Mrs. Martin?"
Dermot paused; a bit taken aback by Evelyn's quick change in tone. "What does that have to do with you?"
"It doesn't matter, just curious." Evelyn smiled, not caring whether Dermot answered or not, just asking casually.
But she was indeed a bit curious.
How could Miss Martin from the Martin family be associated with Dermot? The Martin family was much more powerful than the Kyte family, almost second only to the Doyle family.
Why would someone like Martin support Dermot? What was she thinking?
Dermot glared at her, indifferently saying, "Put away your curiosity. We only have a business relationship. You don't need to know too much."
Evelyn responded, acknowledging that Dermot was the one curious first.
"Then I'll be going." When words don't match, there's no point in continuing the conversation with Dermot.
