Chapter 1049: Hope We Can Be Together Again Next Year
By 8 PM, the villa was all decked out, and the food and drinks were ready. The New Year's Eve party was on.
The usually quiet villa was now buzzing with people singing karaoke in a circle.
Henry looked around, smiling. He'd worried Dermot would be lonely after he left, but it seemed he had nothing to worry about.
Dermot had friends and loved ones. Even if Henry left, Dermot would be fine.
Feeling relieved, Henry's anxiety melted away.
People were singing, chatting, and the vibe was super chill.
Dermot, sitting next to Evelyn, felt good. "Hope we can do this again next year."
"Yeah," Evelyn nodded. No one knew what next year would bring, but they all hoped for the best.
Joshua overheard their whispers but stayed silent. He started thinking maybe Brandon's idea of moving abroad wasn't so bad.
At another table, Ruby was with Alex and Craig. Lydia wanted to sit next to Ruby, but Craig beat her to it, making her a bit annoyed.
Craig didn't care and kept chatting with Ruby.
Ruby glanced at him but didn't get a chance to speak before Alex said, "Mr. Irvine, maybe you should hang out with your date. I can keep Ruby company."
Craig's face darkened, feeling the urge to punch someone. Ruby and Alex kept talking about the karaoke songs.
"Ruby, if you're trying to get a rise out of me with him, it's working," Craig smirked.
Ruby sighed. "You're overthinking it."
"Ruby!" Craig was annoyed.
Alex asked Ruby, "Want to switch seats? So it doesn't mess up the party."
"Sure," Ruby agreed and switched seats with Alex.
Now, Ruby and Alex were together, making things even more awkward.
Alex stayed calm, but Craig was clearly struggling to keep his cool.
"Fine. I'll remember this!" Craig glared, his eyes showing a mix of emotions, including a hint of anger.
Alex noticed but didn't flinch. "Really? I'm honored Mr. Irvine."
He wasn't worried about Craig. If Craig tried anything, it would be the perfect chance to catch him breaking the law.
