Chapter 702: Trusting Your Judgment

"What is it?" Evelyn asked, somewhat puzzled.

Blake averted his eyes and turned to Evelyn. "Wade is a decent man, but he is currently engaged to Lucia. I don't want you to be involved with him any longer."

Despite his high regard for Wade, which remained unchanged, he couldn't accept Wade having relationships with both his daughters, particularly Evelyn.

Evelyn was momentarily taken aback but swiftly grasped Blake's intention. She was left speechless. "You're overthinking things. Wade and I are both students of Mr. Smith. In my heart, he's family. Can't I even share a meal with family?"

"Evelyn, I know you have good intentions, but can you ensure Wade does too? Can you ensure that others won't misinterpret it?" Blake expressed his genuine concern for Evelyn's welfare.

Evelyn was helpless. She looked at Blake. "What others think doesn't matter to me. As long as I have a clear conscience, that's enough."

Unable to convince Evelyn, Blake could only shake his head. "Regardless, you should maintain your distance from him. Consider Lucia's feelings if she were to find out."

"What does her opinion have to do with me?" Evelyn scoffed. Did it mean that if she didn't interact with Wade, Lucia wouldn't trouble her? Clearly, that was impossible.

As long as Lucia met any slight inconvenience, she would shift the blame to Evelyn.

Whether she met Wade or had a meal with him, it wouldn't prevent Lucia from causing trouble for her.

Hearing her say this left Blake speechless.

He remained silent for a while, finally letting out a sigh. "Let's not talk about this. What brings you to see me?"

Typically, Evelyn wouldn't visit him at the Kyte Group unless it was something significant, a fact that Blake was well aware of.

"I'm here to discuss my resignation," Evelyn said directly, without a hint of hesitation.

Blake was unfazed by the revelation. "Very well, there's no point in you staying in the business department any longer."

Initially, he assigned Evelyn to the business department for training, but it proved unnecessary as Evelyn exceeded his expectations, rendering the training redundant.

"In that case, I'll transfer you from the business department to be my assistant, so you can get hands-on experience with the the Kyte Group's core business. This way, you can get up to speed quickly," Blake suggested.

Evelyn frowned, clearly displeased. "Didn't we already agree that the Kyte Group would be managed by a few capable and trustworthy people in the future?"

"That's true, but you can't be completely ignorant about it, can you?" Blake said, half-amused, half-exasperated. From Evelyn's tone, it seemed she had no interest in understanding the Kyte Group at all.

But that wouldn't do. Who could guarantee that the people he chose would always be trustworthy?

What if someone betrayed them? Evelyn wouldn't even know she was being deceived.

Evelyn waved her hand dismissively. "I trust your judgment."

Blake fell silent.

He didn't even trust his own judgment, yet Evelyn dared to say she did. Blake didn't know what to say.

""Okay, since you're not interested in taking over the Kyte Group, I won't pressure you. However, I hope that your future husband will become a part of the Kyte family. This way, we can pass on the responsibilities of the Kyte Group to him," Blake expressed his wish, believing it to be the optimal solution.

If Evelyn could choose a husband from the candidates he had selected, it would be the perfect solution.

With that in mind, he spread out several profiles on the table. "These young men are all exceptional. Their fathers have been with the Kyte Group for a long time, and I have faith in them. Therefore, I intend to concentrate on developing these young men."
