Chapter 753 Can't You Feed Her?
The next day, Evelyn had woke up.
Seeing her awake, Joshua walked over to say, "The doctor said you can have liquid diet today."
With that, Joshua brought over the food that had been set aside. He took out a spoon and prepared to feed her. "Drink up, it's not hot anymore."
"I can do it myself." Joshua's sudden attentiveness made Evelyn a bit uncomfortable.
Although Joshua had always been good to her, Evelyn felt something was different.
Maybe it was because they hadn't seen each other for so many years, and Evelyn wasn't used to it.
"Can you hold it?" Joshua glanced at the injury on Evelyn's shoulder, which was still bandaged and likely couldn't be moved.
Evelyn said awkwardly, "I still have my other hand."
Although her right shoulder was injured, her left hand was perfectly fine, so eating was no problem.
Joshua didn't say anything more for Evelyn insisted. He nodded, placed the food on the table in front of her, and let her eat with her left hand.
As she was eating, Aidan knocked and walked in.
"Aidan," Evelyn said. She felt somewhat happy when she saw Aidan.
It was the first time they had been apart for so long. She really missed him.
Aidan nodded and, seeing her eating food with her left hand, looked at Joshua with some dissatisfaction. "Can't you feed Evelyn? Do you have to make her use her left hand?"
He had thought Joshua would be attentive, but he turned out to be so careless.
Joshua wanted to explain, but Aidan didn't give him the chance. He walked straight over, picked up the bowl, and started feeding Evelyn.
Evelyn smiled apologetically at Joshua but didn't refuse Aidan's help.
Joshua felt helpless. He couldn't help but asked inwardly, 'Evelyn, aren't you being a bit biased?'
After finishing the food, Evelyn felt much better and asked, "Aidan, did you guys run into those mercenaries yesterday?"
"No, they probably saw us coming and left quietly." At that time, Aidan wasn't in the mood to chase them. To him, Evelyn's safety was the most important.
Evelyn nodded without surprise. "Those mercenaries were hired by the Roberts family."
"I heard most of it from Mr. Kyte. You took too big a risk this time. I'll assign some people to protect you, and you can't refuse." Without giving Evelyn a chance to speak, Aidan made the arrangements directly.
He understood Evelyn well. She didn't take those who wanted to harm her seriously for her skills. But there were many skilled people in the world, and there were always times when one couldn't be fully prepared, like this time.
Evelyn didn't refuse this time. After all, she had suffered a loss this time, and Aidan's concern was justified.
"The Roberts family spent a lot of money to hire mercenaries from abroad this time. I'm worried they have other motives. Tell Blake to be careful." Evelyn was afraid their target was Blake.
Aidan nodded, then said discontentedly, "You're injured, so rest well. Mr. Kyte will handle these matters."
"Okay," Evelyn said, knowing they probably already had a clear understanding of the situation and might have already started dealing with the Roberts family. Her worry was unnecessary.
Seeing her not speak, Aidan took a phone out of his bag and handed it to her. "Your phone."
"Thank you, Aidan," Evelyn thanked him. She thought she would have to buy a new one, but Aidan had found it for her.
Aidan pressed his lips and finally said, "When I found the phone, Dermot was calling you. I answered it."
Evelyn was stunned and didn't say anything.
"He said you had called him earlier. I guess when your phone was knocked away, it hit the emergency contact and called him," Aidan explained.
"I was angry that he didn't answer your call at the time, otherwise he might have discovered your situation sooner, so I blocked him."He didn't want to hide anything.
