Chapter 374 You Know

Evelyn was taken aback but persisted, "I want to do it myself."

"Alright, if it makes you happy," Dermot didn't mind, knowing that he could cover for Evelyn. If she couldn't solve it on her own, he could still help.

With a few simple sentences, everything was settled, and Marina didn't even have a chance to interject.

Once Dermot left, Marina leaned closer to Evelyn. "Eve, you and Mr. Doyle..."

"My boyfriend," she didn't hide it, after all, Marina could guess some of it.

Sure enough, Marina wasn't too surprised by this information. She was just curious, "But weren't you divorced?"

"It's complicated, and I can't explain it in a short time. Just know that he is my boyfriend now, and the past... doesn't matter," Evelyn explained.

Marina nodded, not fully understanding, and she didn't ask any more questions. "Then why did you refuse Mr. Doyle's offer to help? Wouldn't it be easier with his support?"

Marina leaned towards Dermot's help in her mind, not just because he could provide financial assistance, but also because it would send a message to everyone in Moris City. The Peterson family, which Dermot had his eyes on, would definitely not go bankrupt!

"I just..." Evelyn fell silent for a moment and then continued, "didn't want him to be involved too much."

In other words, she didn't want Dermot to be dragged into it. She wasn't sure if he would still be willing to help Amelia, considering their past.

It was uncertain whether Dermot would be able to stay till the end, especially after Natalie's words, which made her somewhat hesitant.

On the way to meet Marina's parents, Evelyn received a call from the police station, informing her that Robert had been brought to trial and the verdict would soon be delivered.

Evelyn was satisfied with this outcome because she really didn't want Robert to continue disturbing John.

After hanging up the phone, she arrived at the Peterson family's door and walked in with Marina.

Perhaps Marina had already informed her parents in advance, so both of them were very welcoming when Evelyn arrived.

The three of them went to the study to discuss their collaboration, leaving Marina in the living room. Unfortunately, Marina didn't know much about the Peterson family, and she didn't work for any of their companies. Even if she was invited to join the discussion, she would not understand.

An hour later, the three of them emerged from the study, and Marina could see the smiles on her parents' faces, knowing that their discussion must have gone well.

Without knowing why, she felt relieved. At least the Peterson family wouldn't go bankrupt.

"Eve, thank you," Marina thanked Evelyn again, not knowing what else she could do to express her gratitude.

Evelyn shook the contract in her hand and said, "No need to be so polite. We're partners, not charity."

Moreover, from a business perspective, she actually gained a lot from this collaboration.

If it hadn't been for the desperate situation of the Peterson family, she wouldn't have received such a large stake. Nearly half of the ten billion dollars. As long as the Peterson family survived this crisis, the benefits she would gain in the future would be even greater.

"Eve, stay and have dinner with us. The kitchen is almost ready," Marina suggested.

But Evelyn shook her head and looked at the time, "I have to go to the hospital. You know, there are two surgeries today."

Marina opened her mouth but could only helplessly say, "Then, let me drive you."
