Chapter 652 Enough, Let's Go
After leaving the company, Evelyn didn't waste any time. She started investigating the land in the south of the city on her own. Although Blake would also investigate, she felt that since Eugene was confident enough to approach her for cooperation, he must believe that they wouldn't find anything.
Given the circumstances, Evelyn felt uneasy and needed to inspect it personally to understand the problem and determine how to counteract it.
At the Roberts family residence, after Eugene returned home, he first went to see Walter and told him everything about his conversation with Evelyn.
"Dad, do you think Evelyn is really willing to cooperate with the Roberts family?" Although Evelyn said she would consider it, Eugene still had doubts.
In Eugene's view, Evelyn was full of tricks. If she genuinely wanted to cooperate with the Roberts family, it made him suspicious that she might be plotting against them.
Walter pondered for a while before speaking, "It's hard to say, but as long as she doesn't become enemies with the Roberts family, that’s enough. As for cooperation, we can wait until Blake completely ignores Kyte Group before deciding."
As long as Blake was around, it wouldn't be easy for the two families to fully cooperate.
"Are you planning to let her go?" Eugene knew that the mercenaries Walter hired had already arrived in Colombia and could strike at Evelyn at any time.
Walter seemed to consider this for a moment before saying, "Let's wait and see. Compared to Lucia, I actually have more faith in Evelyn."
"Although she's not as easy to deceive as she might seem, Evelyn does have some abilities. She might even help the Kyte family advance further. It's not a bad idea to maintain good relations with her."
Eugene nodded, finding this reasoning reasonable. "What about Lucia and her mother?"
"Let them go back. Since they are already married into the Kyte family, it's not our place to interfere too much." Walter's words, despite expressing concern for Dora and Lucia, revealed his true priority – interest. Good relationships were secondary to benefits.
Furthermore, Walter didn't want to oppose Blake at this time. Recently, several of the Roberts family's projects had encountered issues, making him suspect someone was targeting them. Therefore, he needed to be extra cautious.
Eugene understood Walter's intention and realized this meant sending Lucia to marry into the Diaz family.
He left the study and went downstairs, where Dora and Lucia were in the living room. They greeted him as he entered.
"Dora, Lucia, it's not helpful for you to stay here. You should return to the Kyte family and talk to Blake. Maybe he will change his mind," Eugene said bluntly, essentially telling them to leave.
Dora's face turned pale. "Eugene, what do you mean by this?"
"Dora, I don't want this either, but we can't afford to offend Blake, right?" Eugene feigned regret, but his eyes showed indifference. It was clear that he didn't genuinely care.
Dora felt a chill of anger.
She remembered Blake telling her that the Roberts family didn't value her, which she hadn't believed at the time, thinking Blake was trying to drive a wedge between her and the Roberts family.
But now, Dora realized it was true.
When interests were at stake, anyone could be abandoned at any time.
"Eugene, what do you mean by this? Sending me back means you want me to marry into the Diaz family? You promised to help me," Lucia interjected before Dora could speak, reacting with agitation.
She didn't want to marry Hubert and be overshadowed by Evelyn for the rest of her life.
Seeing Lucia so agitated, Eugene felt no sympathy. Instead, he found her annoying. "Lucia, you should know what kind of person Blake is. If I really help you, he'll come after me."
"Eugene..."
"Enough." Dora suddenly spoke, her gaze icy. "Let's go."
