Chapter 1187: Why Should I Work with You

After a long, awkward pause, Oscar finally broke the silence. "So, when did you figure it out?"

Evelyn smirked. "Well, for starters, you look just like your old man. Plus, I've done my homework on the Flores clan. It's not just you; I know the whole crew pretty well."

Honestly, Evelyn probably knew more about the Flores family than Oscar did.

Oscar was momentarily speechless.

But he quickly remembered why he was there. "Oh, really? That's great. Saves me the trouble of introducing everyone."

Evelyn looked confused. "What?"

"I'm into you, and guess what? I'm single. I'll give you a shot," he said, like he was doing her a favor.

Evelyn burst out laughing, genuinely this time.

"Are all the Flores this full of themselves?" she asked. "Nathaniel's like this, and now you too. Must run in the family."

Oscar puffed up his chest. "Evelyn, the Kyte family might be top ten in Golombia, but they can't hold a candle to us."

Evelyn sighed, wondering if coming here was a mistake. She dropped her smile and got serious. "Oscar, cut the crap. What's your real agenda? Maybe we can still work together."

Oscar scoffed. "Why would I team up with you?"

"Really? I thought you had big dreams," Evelyn said, raising an eyebrow. "That mighty Flores family you brag about—what's it got to do with you, anyway?"

Oscar's face darkened.

He'd initially thought Evelyn was just a fun distraction. Making her his girlfriend would drive Bella nuts.

But now, he wasn't so sure.

"I know you're pissed at Bella, blaming her for your mom's death. So you come to me to mess with her, but what's the point?" Evelyn looked at him with a mix of pity and amusement.

She thought Oscar was both pathetic and a bit of a joke.

Oscar couldn't laugh anymore. "What are you getting at?"

"You know damn well your dad, Nathaniel, is the one responsible for your mom's death. Without him, none of this would have happened. So if you want to make a move, aim to take him down, not waste time on Bella. It's pointless." She only said this because she needed Oscar's help; otherwise, she wouldn't have bothered.

In her eyes, none of the Flores were worth a damn.

Evelyn's words left Oscar stunned. He'd come here to mess with her, but now she was dropping truth bombs on him, leaving him at a loss.

The room went silent again, and then Evelyn's phone rang. It was Howard. Evelyn's face grew serious.

She answered the call right in front of Oscar.

Howard said someone was attacking the villa. Evelyn responded and hung up.

She didn't leave but kept her eyes on Oscar, waiting for him to say something.
