Chapter 427 But I Can't

"You can ignore them, but I can't." After all, they were Greg's parents, and he could treat them however he wanted, but Evelyn couldn't. She was just a stranger, and that made a difference.

Seeing her insistence, Greg didn't say much. "Alright, I'll come to pick you up tomorrow."

“Okay.”

Not long after they finished speaking, the plane landed at the airport in Colombia. They walked out of the airport, where Greg had already arranged a car.

He opened the car door for Evelyn. “Let’s go, I’ll take you to the hotel.”

"Thank you," Evelyn thanked him without hesitation. Due to the time they had arrived, it really wasn't convenient to hail a taxi.

The driver was an old member of the Hamilton family. He took Evelyn's luggage and put it in the trunk, noticing how polite Mr. Dermot was to her. This made him curious.

Who exactly was this young lady? How could she make the usually arrogant Mr. Dermot treat her so well? Could she be Mr. Dermot's girlfriend? But he hadn't heard anything about Mr. Dermot having a girlfriend. He didn't dwell on it and started driving after Evelyn gave him the hotel address.

In the backseat, the two of them discussed their visit to the Hamilton family tomorrow. Evelyn was actually a little nervous, not knowing if Mr. Hamilton will tell her the truth about why she came here so suddenly?

"Don't worry, I've already talked to Grandpa in advance. If he agreed to let you come, it means he will tell you everything," Greg said.

Evelyn breathed a sigh of relief. That's good then. Looking at the streets of Columbia outside the window, Evelyn felt a sense of surrealism. It was her first time here, after all.

"How is it? Isn't it much more bustling than Morris City?" Greg asked with a hint of pride.

Columbia is incomparable to Morris City. Despite the similarity in their names, the difference between the two cities is like night and day.

Evelyn nodded but shook her head. "It's true that it's not as bustling as here, but not everyone likes the hustle and bustle, right?"

She thought Morris City was quite nice. Greg didn't argue with her. He had a ‘whatever you say’ attitude. She's the boss, so whatever she says goes. The car arrived at the hotel entrance. Evelyn took her luggage and waved at Greg.

"I'll go up first. See you tomorrow."

“If you invite me up to your room, I wouldn’t mind either,” Greg said with a mischievous smile.

Evelyn ignored him, feeling that he was becoming even less serious. She walked into the hotel with her luggage and quickly disappeared from Greg’s sight.

"Mr. Dermot, back to Doyal Mansion?" The driver turned his head and asked Greg after seeing Evelyn leave, but he was scared by the coldness on his face. His change in expression was too fast.

"Let's go back to Doyal Mansion and visit Grandpa," Greg said coldly, turning to get into the car.

The driver shivered, thinking that this was the Mr. Dermot he knew. The playful and smiling face he had shown in front of Evelyn was all a façade.

Inside the hotel, after Evelyn finished packing, she called Ruby. Luckily, Craig hadn't taken Ruby's phone away, or else she really wouldn't be able to contact her.

"Ruby, I've arrived in Colombia."

After leaving the Kite family that day and reaching an agreement with the Kite couple, she told Ruby about the situation, so she could be prepared. As for what kind of preparation...

Of course, it was to be ready to run away at any time, to observe Craig's daily routine as much as possible, so that it would be easier to leave later.

"You must be exhausted, right?" Ruby's words were full of concern but also a hint of helplessness. "Actually, it's not necessary to go through so much trouble."

She believed that her parents probably didn't want to leave Morris City either. They were just leaving for her sake. They were willing to sacrifice for her, so what does it matter if she sacrifices for them?

Maybe Craig will get tired of her soon, and then everything can go back to how it was. Wouldn't that be nice?
