Chapter 1296: This Person Is Not to Be Messed With
"Whoa, Niall, this is way too sudden, I can't..." She started to speak but stumbled over her words, her brain totally scrambled.
She wanted to say she wasn't ready, that it was all too fast, and she needed some time to think.
But before she could get it all out, Niall pulled her into a hug.
Lily went quiet, feeling the warmth from Niall's body. For a split second, she wanted to just say yes without a second thought.
But in the end, she chickened out.
Maybe, like Aidan said, if she wasn't around, Niall could be happier and wouldn't have to deal with all this drama.
"It's cool, Lily, I can wait." Niall got where she was coming from. Proposing out of the blue was a big move. He'd thought about marrying Lily before, but not this soon.
So he wasn't mad she didn't say yes. Instead, he was kinda annoyed with himself for rushing things. Now wasn't the best time to bring it up.
Lily nodded, still in a daze. Niall didn't push her, which was a huge relief. At least she didn't have to decide right now.
Meanwhile, Evelyn and her crew had already bounced out of Golombia and landed in a small town nearby.
Even though it wasn't part of Golombia, the place was still pretty well-off since it was so close. Evelyn couldn't believe Lily's parents would actually use her as collateral.
She found Lily's house, and laughter was coming from inside. It seemed like they didn't give a damn about Lily's situation in Golombia.
In the car, Evelyn laid out her plan to Jennifer.
After hearing it, Jennifer gave her a thumbs up. "Got it, don't sweat it. I won't let you down. Acting is my jam."
Evelyn didn't plan to meet Lily's parents herself, mainly because she didn't want to blow her cover. Who knew if these folks had dug into Niall's background? If they had, they'd definitely recognize her.
If that happened, her plan would go up in smoke, so she brought Jennifer along for the ride.
Soon enough, Jennifer, with a bunch of big guys, knocked on Lily's parents' door.
Lily's parents' house was pretty swanky. In this small town, they had a three-story crib, showing they weren't hurting for cash.
Someone came to the door. Jennifer had seen pics of these people from Evelyn and knew this was Lily's mom.
"Who are you?" Lily's mom, Abbie Wright, frowned at the unfamiliar face in front of her.
Jennifer, rocking sunglasses and flanked by big dudes, looked like someone you didn't want to mess with.
"You Lily's mom?" Jennifer asked, shoving Abbie aside and strolling into the house.
The big guys followed her in. Jennifer found a chair, sat down, and the guys stood behind her, looking all tough.
This left Abbie, Lily's dad Marshall Wright, and her brother Brad Wright totally freaked out.
The three of them huddled together, staring at each other, clueless about who Jennifer was or what she wanted.
But one thing was clear: she was bad news.
"Miss..."
Jennifer shot a glare at Brad, who had spoken. One of the bodyguards moved fast, grabbing Brad and tossing him to the ground.
"Ah! It hurts! Dad, Mom, help me!" The bodyguard stepped on his arm, and Brad screamed in pain.
