Chapter 405 Annoying
Too far?
Dermot didn't think so.
He approached Evelyn, and his dark eyes showed indeterminate emotions. "She and I are not what you think."
"Oh." Evelyn sneered. "Then Greg and I are not what you think either."
Her words were true, but Dermot's words might not be.
"Evelyn, you really want to go against me, don't you?" Dermot was irritated and a little angry.
Evelyn glanced at him, feeling that this man was too domineering. Clearly, it was her fault, but he blamed her instead.
Annoying!
The two of them stood their ground, neither of them speaking, and the atmosphere became somewhat suffocating.
After a while, Dermot finally spoke up, "Evey, give me some time, I will explain everything to you."
"Explain what?" Evelyn didn't understand. What was there to explain between them?
Besides, they had already broken up, hadn't they?
If Dermot wanted to explain, why didn't he explain at the time? It would be ridiculous to come now and ask for time to explain, wouldn't it?
Dermot opened his mouth, but in the end, he didn't mention Benjamin's situation. On one hand, he didn't want Evelyn to worry, and on the other hand, he was afraid that Benjamin would notice her.
After all, they were in a broken-up state now. If Evelyn didn't appear sad, it would make Benjamin suspicious.
Seeing him remain silent, Evelyn's heart sank slightly. "If there's nothing else, please leave, Mr. Doyle. I want to rest."
"Evey..."
"Since Mr. Doyle doesn't want to explain now, then wait until you feel like explaining." Evelyn interrupted him, no longer wanting to hear him speak further.
Seeing her icy gaze, Dermot also knew that anything he said now would be useless unless he could truly explain everything.
But unfortunately, he couldn't.
Sighing in his heart, he instructed, "Well, take good rest and don't tire yourself out."
"No need to worry, Mr. Doyle. I'm perfectly fine." As she saw him really preparing to leave, Evelyn's heart felt even more uncomfortable.
She didn't understand. What couldn't be explained now? Unless it couldn't be explained at all.
Dermot got up and left, and Evelyn didn't see him off. It was only until the sound of the door closing that her once upright body slumped down, and she weakly sat on the sofa.
When the news of the imminent bankruptcy of the Stanley Group came, Evelyn was somewhat surprised.
She thought she would receive news of Lauren taking over the Stanley Group, but she didn't expect it to go bankrupt?
She looked at the news and only then discovered that the upper management of the Stanley Group had been exposed for corruption and bribery. Several managers were sentenced to jail. Online, there were rumors that the Stanley Group was facing problems and on the verge of bankruptcy.
The stock price plummeted, hitting the limit down, and people were in a state of anxiety.
Evelyn looked at this scene, unable to help but curl her lips. She knew that most likely, it was all orchestrated by Lauren.
Since she dared to do this, it meant she had confidence in stabilizing the Stanley Group and preventing bankruptcy.
As for the reason behind this... Evelyn carefully thought and felt that Lauren probably wanted to use this crisis to force those who held Stanley Group stocks to sell, so that she could acquire more shares.
She didn't pay much attention to the Stanley Group anymore. She didn't care, and Natalie couldn't cause any waves anyway.
Closing her phone, she got up to check the rooms. She still had two surgeries to perform, and she couldn't afford any negligence.
The Stanley family, just as Evelyn had guessed, Lauren's actions were meant to force those who lacked confidence in the Stanley Group to sell their shares.
And Natalie was naturally one of them.
She had sold her shares right from the beginning and was now persuading Oliver, "Oliver, quickly sell your shares. If you wait for the Stanley Group to go bankrupt, your shares will be worthless"
