Chapter 909 When Did You And He Become so Close?
Hearing that, Dermot chuckled. "So, are you scared?"
"Of course. Who isn't afraid of death?" Evelyn replied. The Doyle family was powerful, and even as the head of the Kyte family, she couldn't match them. Randy was ruthless, and his approval of Gerald's attack on Dermot showed his tough nature.
"If you're scared, why agree to dinner with me?" Dermot asked. In fact, he didn't see any trace of fear on Evelyn's face.
Evelyn ate calmly. "I can't let fear affect my life, right?"
To her, having dinner with Dermot and getting closer was just part of her routine. She wouldn't change for anyone, even if threatened. Besides, keeping her distance wouldn't make Randy back off. If he targeted her, he wouldn't let go.
"Yeah, you're right," Dermot nodded. "Don't worry. I'll protect you."
"No need," she said confidently. As the Kyte family head, Randy would still have to think twice before acting against her.
Dermot felt a stir in his heart. "Evelyn, you look really beautiful right now."
The sudden compliment made her a bit embarrassed. "Don't think a few compliments will make me agree to be with you."
"I know. I really think you looked beautiful just now," Dermot said, understanding she wouldn't easily agree to be with him. He understood, especially since he hadn't cherished her before. He was satisfied with the current situation and believed he could win her over in time.
Evelyn chuckled coldly, but Dermot sensed a hint of happiness in it and smiled.
After dinner, Dermot drove Evelyn home, surprising her by taking her to her new house instead of the Kyte family home.
As they walked into the neighborhood, Evelyn looked at Dermot suspiciously. "How did you know I moved here?"
"I have people protecting you," Dermot admitted.
Evelyn had somewhat expected this but still found it strange. Normally, Dermot wouldn't mention it for fear that it would make her uncomfortable.
She stopped and stared at him. Dermot laughed awkwardly. "Alright, Luke told me."
Evelyn was surprised. "Since when did you and he get so close?"
She had asked Luke to find the house yesterday, and he had already told Dermot. It seemed too fast.
"We're just on normal terms," Dermot said, not thinking his relationship with Luke was that good.
Evelyn didn't believe him. "Normal terms and he tells you so much?"
As Luke's boss, she didn't think he would reveal her whereabouts just because of a normal relationship.
