Chapter 171 Miss Barns Asked The Wrong Person

Before Evelyn could answer, Natalie continued, "Dermot brought me back to have dinner with Grandpa. Anyway, we are going to be a family in the future. We need to spend more time together, right?"

"Miss Barns asked the wrong person. I'm not interested in whether you are a family or not." Evelyn glanced at her and then turned and walked into the living room, ignoring the two behind her.

She didn't say a word to Dermot, nor did she look at him, treating him as if he were invisible.

"Dermot..."

"Can't you keep your mouth shut?" Dermot turned his head to look at her, his voice extremely cold.

He was in a very bad mood, especially seeing Evelyn's indifferent appearance, which almost made him unable to resist rushing up to grab her and interrogate her:

What does he have to do to get into her heart?

Natalie felt the chill emanating from Dermot, icy and bone-chilling, making her shiver.

She knew very well that despite the rumors about their marriage, Dermot had never actually said he would marry her, although he had not denied it either...

But Natalie couldn't help feeling uneasy, always thinking that Dermot didn't seem like the type to forgive easily.

Just as Evelyn entered the living room, Grandpa Doyle greeted her with a smile, "Here you are, Evelyn."

"Yeah, I got off work early." Evelyn walked over and sat next to Grandpa Doyle.

Just as Grandpa Doyle was about to say something, he saw Dermot and Natalie walking in at the door, and his face instantly turned dark.

With a cold snort, he angrily said to Dermot, "What did you bring her here for? Are you trying to make trouble for me?"

"She said she wanted to come and see you, so I brought her." Dermot deliberately told Evelyn that it was not him who brought Natalie here, but that Natalie came on her own.

But Evelyn didn't care about any of this. She pretended not to hear and leisurely sipped the tea Bruce had brought her.

Natalie felt Grandpa Doyle's displeasure in his eyes and forced herself to say, "Grandpa Doyle, I grew up with you looking after me since I was little, and Dermot and I have been childhood friends. Is there something you're dissatisfied with me?"

She didn't understand. Grandpa Doyle used to like her quite a bit, so why now that she was going to marry into the Doyle family, he seemed unhappy?

"Hmph, I used to treat you like a granddaughter. But what about now? Who do you think you are? Dare you to scheme against my grandson!"

His words were harsh and did not give Natalie any face, and her expression became even more unpleasant as she listened.

"Dreaming you can marry into the Doyle family with such vulgar means, forget about it!"

Natalie cannot utter a word. She didn't expect Grandpa Doyle to treat her so poorly, especially considering their past relationship. She had hoped to gain Grandpa Doyle's approval, but who would have thought...

Before she could speak, Grandpa Doyle continued, "I only recognize Evelyn as my granddaughter-in-law. I don't acknowledge anyone else, and don't even think about marrying the Doyle family!"

He didn't know what Dermot was plotting, but he had to make things clear. It would be best if Natalie knew her place and backed off, but if she didn't...

Then he wouldn't be polite!

Evelyn, who had been quietly drinking her tea, suddenly felt herself being involved and sensed the hostility in Natalie's eyes.

She wanted to say a few words. But she didn't want to give Natalie the satisfaction. So she chose not to explain. Instead, she smiled at Natalie, provoking her.

Unfortunately, in Grandpa Doyle's presence, she dared not show her true feelings.

Seeing Natalie's reaction, Evelyn felt satisfied.

Dermot couldn't help but be captivated by Evelyn's gaze until Natalie tugged at his sleeve and looked at him pitifully. Only then did he come back to his senses?

"Let's have dinner. We can talk about it after the meal," he said.
