Chapter 1029: He's Awake

"Hey, have you had dinner yet?" Evelyn asked, sitting down across from Joshua with some stuff.

Joshua nodded. "Don't worry about me. We have a chef at home; I won't starve."

Even though he had asked Evelyn to move in, Joshua didn't want to control her. Making her unhappy was the last thing he wanted.

"I got you a New Year's gift," Evelyn said, handing it over.

Joshua looked surprised. "New Year's is still two days away. Why now?"

"I already bought it, so why wait?" Evelyn laughed awkwardly.

Joshua chuckled and took the gift. "Thanks."

"Open it. See if you like it," Evelyn said, looking hopeful.

Joshua opened the box. "If it's from you, I'll like it."

Seeing the tie inside, he smiled. "It's beautiful. I really like it."

"Glad you do. I wasn't sure what you'd like, but this seemed perfect," Evelyn said.

Joshua wanted to ask if he was the only one getting a gift but decided against it.

Evelyn stood up. "Let me push you back to your room. You should rest."

"Okay," Joshua nodded. He had been waiting in the living room for her.

After getting Joshua to his room, Evelyn went to hers. Just as she turned on the light, her phone rang. It was Dermot.

"You're back?" Dermot's voice came through.

Evelyn looked out the window and saw Dermot across the way. "Have you been watching my window? That's a bit creepy."

"I was busy in the study and just saw your light," Dermot laughed. "I wasn't spying."

"Aren't you going to rest?" Evelyn asked.

"I was waiting for you," Dermot replied. "Did you have fun tonight?"

"Yeah," Evelyn said. Being with Ruby had lifted her spirits.

"Then hang out with Ruby more often. Don't wear yourself out," Dermot said. He didn't mind not being invited as long as Evelyn was happy.

"Yeah," Evelyn said, thinking about the upcoming New Year. "Aren't you going back to Moris City for New Year's?"

She thought about Dermot's grandfather in Moris City. He should be going back to see Henry.

"No need. I've arranged for someone to bring Grandpa to Golombia. He should arrive tomorrow," Dermot said. He hoped Henry would stay in Golombia for easier care.

Evelyn was surprised but then realized it made sense.

Dermot would likely be in Golombia long-term, and Henry would eventually move there. "That's good. It's worrisome having Mr. Henry Doyle alone in Moris City."

"Yeah, and Benjamin has woken up too," Dermot said.

"He's awake?" Evelyn was genuinely surprised. It was amazing that someone in a vegetative state could wake up.

"Yes, he's awake," Dermot nodded. "So, there's definitely hope for Joshua's recovery."

Evelyn agreed. Knowing Benjamin had woken up filled her with hope. If he could recover, Joshua could too.
