Chapter 1126: Be My Girlfriend

Under the Cybersteel Tower, it was still pretty early, so there weren't many tourists around. Just a few folks here and there, making it all chill and quiet.

Dermot glanced up at the Cybersteel Tower and asked, "Can we go up?"

"Sure, you wanna go?" Evelyn thought Dermot was just here to check it out, not expecting him to actually wanna go up. Was he really here for sightseeing?

Dermot nodded, looking at Evelyn with hopeful eyes. "Since we're here, let's go up and take a look."

Evelyn had been to the Cybersteel Tower before. Back in her first year studying here, she had eagerly come to visit.

"Alright." She nodded and took Dermot up the Cybersteel Tower.

There was an elevator, and it was pretty fast. In no time, they were standing atop the Cybersteel Tower.

From up there, they could see the whole city.

"This city is still the same as before," Evelyn remarked, unlike Golombia, where if she left for a few years, there would definitely be big changes.

Dermot nodded. "Yeah."

"Let's head down now that we've seen enough. Since you wanna tour, we got quite a few spots to hit," Evelyn said, turning to leave.

But Dermot grabbed her wrist at that moment. "What's the rush? Let's look a bit longer."

Evelyn was puzzled. She thought, 'What else is there to see?'

Reluctantly, Evelyn continued to gaze into the distance, while Dermot somehow ended up behind her and softly called her name, "Evelyn."

Evelyn turned around and was stunned.

At that moment, Dermot was down on one knee, holding a ring. "Would you be my girlfriend?"

Evelyn quickly snapped out of it. No one was around, or she'd be embarrassed. "Are you declaring your love or proposing?"

"Either works. You can also consider it a proposal," Dermot said with a cheeky smile.

Evelyn rolled her eyes at him. "You wish."

"Evelyn, tell me. Would you be my girlfriend? I'm still kneeling here," Dermot said with a helpless smile. He had been pretty confident, but Evelyn's delay in answering was shaking his confidence.

Evelyn's lips twitched slightly as she expressed her dissatisfaction, "If you're asking me to be your girlfriend, what's wrong with kneeling a bit longer?"

"If you agree, I'll kneel as long as you want," Dermot quickly replied. He had no reluctance, just the fear that Evelyn might not agree.

Evelyn didn't respond but took the ring from his hand. "Didn't you give me a New Year's gift before? I thought you were gonna use that ring."

"I thought that one wasn't good enough. This one is prettier." Dermot thought only the most beautiful one was worthy of Evelyn.

Although Evelyn said nothing, her upturned lips betrayed her true feelings at that moment.

She was happy.

She handed the ring back to Dermot and said, "Put it on me."

Dermot was overjoyed, fumbling a bit as he put the ring on Evelyn, his hands even trembling.

Evelyn couldn't help but laugh, "Why are you so nervous? Are you an eighteen-year-old?"

"After all, it's my first time declaring love, so it's natural to be nervous." Dermot couldn't even remember if he had declared love for Evelyn the last time they were together.

But he felt that it definitely wasn't as meticulously prepared as this time, nor was he as nervous as he was now.

Maybe, people only cherish what they have after losing it.

Looking at Evelyn in his arms, Dermot thought to himself, 'This time, I won't let you leave me again.'
