Chapter 44 I Will Be the Winner

Keith accompanied Evelyn to the entrance of her apartment complex.

"Thank you for today," Evelyn thanked him again.

"You've already thanked me several times. You don't have to be so polite," Keith pretended to be unhappy and added, "If you really want to thank me, remember to invite me to dinner another day. That's what you promised me."

"Okay, I'll definitely invite you," Evelyn nodded.

"Go in and rest early," Keith said.

Evelyn had barely taken a few steps when she heard him say, "I ordered food for you. Remember to eat later."

"Okay, thanks." Evelyn was surprised, but felt like saying thank you was enough at this point.

She walked into the residential compound and disappeared from Keith's sight.

He put away his smile, leaned against the car, and lit a cigarette. The smoke had only burned halfway when he saw a car approaching and stopping in front of him.

Keith smiled and threw the remaining cigarette on the ground, stomping it out with his foot. "Dermot, it looks like I'm going to win this time."

Dermot rolled down the car window, his dark eyes devoid of emotion. "You did all this just to beat me?"

"Of course." He nodded, winning against Dermot was his obsession.

However, Dermot's anger rose inside him. "She's a human being, not a tool for us to win or lose."

"Yeah if it weren't for you, maybe I would have appreciated her too. Who knows, I might even have fallen for her." Keith sighed, but unfortunately, his hatred made him resort to any means necessary.

"You're really childish." After speaking, Dermot started the car and drove into the residential compound.

Keith shrugged indifferently. "Childish? Maybe."

"But as long as I can beat you, Dermot, what's the harm in being childish?"

Dermot came out of the underground parking lot and went straight to the elevator. Because of Keith's actions, he was feeling quite annoyed.

When he reached his front door and was about to open it, he instinctively looked across to Evelyn's door and was stunned.

She didn't close the door?

Is this woman too careless?

In his thoughts, he had already walked to her door.

No lights on?

Dermot frowned, could something have happened?

Just as he was worried, he suddenly heard painful murmurs coming from the sofa.

"Dr. Kyte?"

Nobody answered him, but Evelyn heard him, but the pain in her stomach made it hard for her to speak.

Dermot found the living room switch, turned on the light, and saw that the person lying on the sofa was indeed Evelyn.

At this moment, Evelyn was writhing in pain on the sofa, sweating on her forehead, and her face was pale, as if she was about to pass out any second.

"Dr. Kyte, what's wrong? Where does it hurt?" Dermot walked over and asked, crouching down beside her.

"My... my stomach hurts," she said painfully.

"Stomach ache? Do you have any medicine at home?" He asked, his eyes full of concern.

Evelyn didn't say anything, just shook her head continuously.

It was also her bad luck that she hadn't eaten dinner today, and when she had a stomach ache and was ready to take some medicine, she found out that she was out of stock, so she was rolling in pain at home.

She wanted to ask Dermot to buy her some medicine, but before she could say anything, she saw the man get up and then disappear into the living room.

He... he left?

Could it be that this man was taking the opportunity to get back at her? After all, yesterday she scared Dermot in the elevator by threatening to turn off his flashlight.

At this moment, Evelyn regretted it immensely. She shouldn't have brought that upon herself!

Now, with Dermot gone, she could only suffer the pain on her own.
