Chapter 752 I've Forgotten
Lucia called Dora, and at the hospital, Evelyn slowly woke up.
She felt like she had a dream where she kept running but could never see the end. Just when she was about to despair, a figure descended from the sky.
In her daze, she saw the man's face—it was Dermot.
At that moment, she was very happy. She thought Dermot must still like her and all that talk about amnesia and not liking her was just a lie.
In this joy, she opened her eyes, but what she saw was Joshua rather than Dermot.
She was momentarily stunned but quickly remembered what had happened.
"What did you dream about? I saw you smiling just now, but now that you're awake, the smile is gone. Are you disappointed to see me?" Joshua teased.
Evelyn snapped out of it and forced a laugh, "Joshua, stop teasing me."
"Alright, are you hungry?" Joshua asked.
Evelyn nodded. She hadn't eaten for almost a day and was a bit hungry now.
"Even if you're hungry, you'll have to bear with it. The doctor said you can't eat anything right now, and you can only sip a little water." With that, he handed her a cup of warm water.
Evelyn rolled her eyes at him and said, "Why ask if I'm hungry if I can't eat? Are you teasing me on purpose?"
"I'm just trying to cheer you up." Joshua smiled. Seeing Evelyn trying to sit up, he went over to help her lean against the headboard.
Evelyn leaned against the headboard and asked, "Joshua, why did you suddenly come back? You didn't answer me before."
She hadn't seen Joshua in many years, and they hadn't kept in touch. Evelyn almost forgot he existed.
So Joshua's sudden appearance was indeed surprising to Evelyn.
"If I said it was because of you, would you believe me?" Joshua looked at her, not hiding the emotion in his eyes. He believed Evelyn could see it clearly.
Evelyn did see it, but she was also confused. She said, "Joshua, stop teasing me, will you?"
Joshua laughed a few times to ease the awkwardness. He added, "I ran into Aidan abroad, and he invited me back to do business with him."
Evelyn nodded, thinking that was the real reason.
"Where's Aidan?" Evelyn asked.
"I told him to go rest. He worked hard to find you. I figured you wouldn't want him to stay here and watch over you," Joshua said.
Evelyn didn't mind this, but she glanced at Joshua, "You must have helped him find me, right? Aren't you tired?"
"I'm fine," Joshua said. He couldn't exactly say he stayed on purpose so that Evelyn would see him first when she woke up.
"I'm fine now. You should go rest." Evelyn felt embarrassed to have Joshua watch over her. Although they were very close in the past, many years had passed, and things had changed.
Joshua didn't leave. He looked at Evelyn and began to talk about the past, "Evelyn, do you remember what you said when you confessed to me?"
Evelyn's cheeks turned a bit red, "Joshua, that was so many years ago. I've long forgotten."
"Forgotten?" Joshua was a bit disappointed but still said, "But I haven't forgotten. I've remembered it clearly all these years."
"Joshua..." Evelyn was so embarrassed that she didn't know what to say.
Joshua smile and said, "Don't overthink it. I just thought you were very cute back then. Now you've changed a bit and become distant with me.
"Sleep now. I'll stay here with you." Joshua lay down on the sofa beside her, showing no intention of leaving.
