Chapter 705: No One Here Cares for Her

In the restaurant, Evelyn and Wade sat in a private booth.

She was curious about Wade's current situation but hesitated to ask, worried that she might unintentionally say something insensitive and upset him.

"I've been so busy lately that I haven't had time to check on you. How have you been?" Wade initiated the conversation, a smile on his face, as if he had returned to his old self.

But seeing him like this made Evelyn a bit worried. "I've been good, Wade. How about you?"

"Me?" Wade raised an eyebrow and leisurely poured Evelyn some juice. "I've been good too."

To be honest, having someone to vent his anger on every day had stabilized his emotions quite a bit recently.

She considered inquiring about Wade and Lucia's present circumstances but decided against it, knowing that mentioning Lucia at that moment might distress Wade.

Soon after, the waiter arrived with their meals.

"You look thinner lately. Is the company keeping you busy?" Wade asked, reaching out to serve her some food.

Evelyn shook her head. "No, I actually feel like I've gained weight."

"You're not fat. You should eat more." With that, Wade served her more food, worried she might not get enough to eat.

Evelyn didn't object. During her time under Mr. Smith's tutelage, Wade always made sure she had enough to eat at every meal, concerned she might not eat adequately.

Reflecting on Mr. Smith, Evelyn couldn't resist asking, "Have we received any updates from Mr. Smith? It appears his journey is lasting longer than usual."

Usually, Mr. Smith would return after ten days or half a month, but this time he seemed to be gone for quite a while.

"I'm not sure. He tried to contact me before but couldn't reach me," Wade said, not finding it strange. He smiled and added, "Mr. Smith is like that. Maybe he found some beautiful scenery and decided to stay there."

"Really?" Evelyn ate her food, feeling a bit worried.

"If you're really worried, I can send someone to look for him," Wade offered, noticing Evelyn's concern.

Evelyn thought for a moment, and her worry won out. "It's better to send someone to look for him. After all, Mr. Smith is getting old and doesn't have anyone with him."

Mr. Smith had mentored numerous students, but Evelyn was his final protege. She maintained contact with Wade, the only one who remained, while the others had already departed and forged their own paths when she joined Mr. Smith.

"Alright, I'll have someone look for him. Don't worry too much," Wade said.

In fact, Wade hadn't followed Mr. Smith to learn painting out of a love for it but to improve his knowledge and cultivation. He hadn't expected to meet Evelyn there.

Looking back, that was probably the best decision he had ever made.

While Wade and Evelyn were eating, Lucia had already arrived at the restaurant entrance.

She had paid the waiter to locate the booth where Wade and Evelyn were seated and hurried over without hesitation.

Pushing the door open, Wade and Evelyn, who were eating, stopped and turned to look.

"Evelyn, you bitch!"

Before they could react, Lucia had already charged at Evelyn, her sharp nails aiming for Evelyn's face, only to be kicked away by Evelyn.

Lucia was sent flying and landed heavily on the ground, seriously injured.

"Sorry, force of habit," Evelyn said apologetically, though her face showed no sign of remorse.

Lucia had brought this upon herself, and Evelyn wouldn't mince words.

Lucia tried to speak but was unable to, tears cascading down her face.

Unfortunately, no one was there to console her.
