Chapter 59 What Am I Hiring You For?
In the president's office, Todd suppressed his fear and followed Dermot inside.
"Have you found any information about my ex-wife?" Dermot coldly looked at him, his voice devoid of any emotions.
But the more he acted like this, the more scared Todd became.
He couldn't understand what was wrong with the president. Before, they wouldn't even ask about each other once a year. Yet now, the number of inquiries about divorce has increased.
Shaking his head, Todd stammered, "No... no, I haven't."
As expected, when these words came out, Dermot's gaze towards him became even colder, as if icy daggers were piercing through him.
"What is her name?" Dermot asked.
"Evelyn," Todd replied.
He heard Dermot sitting in front of him take a deep breath, as if restraining something.
"You have never seen her?" Dermot asked again.
Todd shook his head and said, "She has never been to the company, and you have never been to Doyle Manor. Naturally, I have never seen her."
On normal days, Evelyn would communicate directly with Bruce at Doyle Mansion, and Todd had no reason to interact with her.
As soon as he finished speaking, Dermot picked up the files in front of him and threw them at Todd, "What am I hiring you for? You haven't been able to find her whereabouts for so long, and you don't even know she's right in front of me."
Todd's head was spinning from being hit, but he didn't dare to dodge. However, when he heard Dermot's words, he froze, "In front of you?"
He didn't understand the meaning of this statement.
"Evelyn, Dr. Kyte, don't you feel that something is wrong with this?" Dermot was obviously very angry and was struggling to control his urge to explode.
Todd was shocked, and it took him a while to recover. "Dr. Kyte... could it be that she is your ex-wife?"
Dermot didn't answer, but the answer was already obvious.
Outside the office, Cassie, who was about to push the door open, was also stunned and incredulous.
"How is this possible? Evelyn is clearly from the countryside. Dr. Kyte is not only a world-renowned neurosurgeon but also Mr. Smith's last student. They are two completely different people."
It's no wonder she was so surprised. Anyone would find it difficult to connect the two individuals together.
Dermot gave him a cold stare and said, "This is what I want you to investigate. If you can't figure this out for me, then get the hell out!"
"Don’t worry, Mr. Doyle!" Todd nodded solemnly. Even he was very curious about what was going on.
After Todd left the office, Dermot sent a message to Bruce to confirm, which included a photo of Evelyn in the hospital.
Soon, he received a reply from Bruce, and any remaining uncertainty in his heart disappeared completely.
"Mr. Dermot, this is indeed a photo of the young lady."
After all these years, Dermot's mind was in chaos for the first time. He had no idea how to face her.
Cassie put aside her shock and knocked on the door before entering.
"Dermot, what's wrong with you?" she asked.
"Nothing. Why are you here?" Dermot shook his head and didn't want to tell everyone about Evelyn.
Cassie walked up to him, her eyes red. "My dad's company..."
"Cassie, your father broke the law and should hold legally responsible. You should know that" Dermot interrupted her.
He had never had a good attitude towards Cassie's parents.
Originally, if the problem wasn't significant, he wouldn't mind helping out and letting Cassie recover with peace of mind.
But now it seemed like the problem was not small, and he only felt more troubled.
"He didn't need to help. It wasn't worth it."
