Chapter 99 It's Too Late to Apologize Now
The two found a table and sat down. Dermot didn't hide his disgust, which was visible on his face. Evelyn couldn't help but smile when she saw it.
"You seem to dislike this kind of environment a lot. Why did you choose to stay at Barberts Apartment? If you lived in Doyle Manor, I guarantee there wouldn't be a place like this within ten miles," she said.
Doyle Manor was a villa area with a good environment and fewer people, which perfectly suited Dermot's taste.
Dermot did not respond.
Before they got married, he did live at Doyle Manor, but after marrying Evelyn, she moved in there and he did not want to go back, so he found a place close to the company.
Later, they got divorced and he had plans to move back, but, he ran into Evelyn at that time.
He didn't want to leave anymore.
Evelyn stared at him for a few seconds, then realized something and sneered, "You have it tough, getting married and not being able to go home."
Her sarcasm was undisguised, but Dermot didn't mind and replied with a faint smile, "If it were having another wife like you, I believe you would make the same choice."
"Don't compare me to you," Evelyn said with disdain, "I know what it means to go with the flow instead of just avoiding everything."
At the very least, she would meet the other person and explain the situation, unlike Dermot who didn't meet or say anything.
What a scumbag! She cursed.
Dermot couldn't argue, his previous actions were problematic.
But at that time, he also had grievances and indifference towards Evelyn, this wife who appeared.
Life is unpredictable, who could have imagined that he would ultimately encounter this woman?
"I was in the wrong before," Dermot didn't continue to argue, "I'm sorry."
The moment Dermot said "I'm sorry," Evelyn was surprised, but quickly recovered, "It's too late to apologize now, isn't it? We're already divorced."
"I know." Dermot nodded, feeling helpless as well.
Evelyn didn't want to discuss the past with him, so she directly asked, "Tell me, what do you want to talk to me about? If it's just to apologize for the past, there's no need, it's all in the past now."
"That day outside the apartment, I..." Dermot paused, sighed and said, "I shouldn't have said those things."
He said Evelyn was interested in him, but it was only because he was provoked by Keith that he spoke without thinking.
Not long after, the boss brought the barbecue Evelyn ordered and said to her, "What would you like to drink?"
"A bottle of beer," Evelyn said.
"Alright then."
The beer arrived quickly, Evelyn poured a glass and looked at Dermot, "Do you want to drink?"
"Drinking is not good for the stomach," Dermot said, then called out to the boss, "Boss, bring a bottle of beverage."
Afterward, he took the beer from Evelyn's hand and poured the beverage for her.
Evelyn felt that Dermot was particularly interesting today, and she didn't refuse, leisurely sipping the beverage, lost in thought.
Dermot was anxious. He apologized for what happened that day, but hadn't heard Evelyn's forgiveness yet.
"To be honest, I don't understand why you felt the need to explain and apologize to me. After all, you are Dermot," she spoke up after a while with this remark.
She lifted her gaze to look at him, hesitant to speak. "I just don't want there to be too many misunderstandings between us."
"Why?" she asked, not understanding why.
