Chapter 1293: Then Will You Accompany Me
Lily was bawling her eyes out, shaking her head like crazy. "No one's messing with me."
With Niall around, who'd even dare?
Seeing her cry like that, Niall was dying to hug her, but he was stuck, couldn't move an inch, just had to watch.
"Lily, don't cry. I can't even hug you."
That made Lily cry even harder. "Why are you so dumb?"
"I'm not dumb. If I was, would I have met an awesome girl like you?" Niall grinned, feeling like the luckiest guy ever.
Lily didn't say a word. She could feel Niall's love, but it was so intense it almost suffocated her.
It wasn't that she didn't love him back; she just didn't think she deserved it.
After what felt like forever, Lily finally stopped crying. She wiped her eyes. "Niall, I'm sorry. It's my fault you got hurt."
She felt she should be the one apologizing.
"Lily, we're a team. No need for sorries. I know if it were me in trouble, you'd jump in to save me without a second thought." Niall didn't need her apology; he didn't think she'd done anything wrong.
But Lily still felt awful. "My parents..."
"Don't stress. Once I'm outta here, we'll go see them together. Maybe there's another way." Niall had grown up without parents, so he didn't really get what was going on with Lily and hers.
People always said parents love their kids, but he didn't think Lily's parents loved her much. Maybe some parents just didn't love their kids—like hers, and like his. If his parents had loved him, they wouldn't have ditched him and made him an orphan.
When Niall said he'd go with her to see her parents, Lily freaked out. "No! You can't go!"
She could already picture her parents hitting Niall up for money, and they wouldn't stop once they started.
She didn't want to drag him down.
"Don't worry. If you don't want me to go, I won't. Whatever happens, we'll handle it together." Niall squeezed her hand to calm her down.
Maybe the warmth from his hand helped, and Lily finally chilled out. "They're not good people. If you go, they'll latch onto you, and I don't want that."
"Got it." Niall nodded, getting where she was coming from.
Honestly, he didn't care. He wasn't as loaded as Evelyn or Dermot, but he wasn't broke either. He could deal with her parents.
But since Lily didn't want him to, he wouldn't push it.
Lily calmed down and didn't bring up her parents again. "You just woke up, you're not fully recovered yet, you need to rest more."
"But I can't sleep." Niall felt like he'd been out forever and was scared if he dozed off again, Lily might leave.
Lily sighed and smiled. "Even if you can't sleep, you should lie down and rest."
"Will you stay with me?" Niall raised an eyebrow. If Lily stayed, he'd feel better.
Lily blushed instantly. "How can we share this bed?"
"If we snuggle up, there's plenty of room," Niall said, scooting over to make space.
Lily's cheeks turned even redder.
