Chapter 1204: This Is Our Turf
As night rolled in, Golombia's early spring streets buzzed with life. The red maple trees, sprouting fresh buds, were popping with energy at every corner.
Nathaniel rushed into Golombia, but he wasn't here for the scenery. He headed straight to the meetup spot, racking his brain on how to get Bella out of Kyte Manor.
Even though he had a bunch of his crew with him, Nathaniel still wasn't feeling too hot about going head-to-head with the Kyte family.
This wasn't his turf, after all.
Little did Nathaniel know, the second he stepped out of the airport, he was already under the watchful eyes of Evelyn and her team. Whatever he had planned, there was no slipping past them.
For the next couple of days, Kyte Manor was eerily quiet. Everyone was on edge, waiting for Nathaniel to make a move, but it was like he vanished into thin air.
Evelyn's crew kept tabs on Nathaniel, watching him come and go every day. To the untrained eye, it looked like he was just on a vacation in Golombia.
Evelyn was stumped. She turned to Dermot and asked, "You think he's too chicken to make a move?"
"Don't sell him short. Nathaniel's not acting because he's scared; he's just biding his time, waiting for the perfect moment," Dermot replied, never one to underestimate anyone, especially not Nathaniel.
Even though Dermot had never met Nathaniel, the intel he had gathered painted a picture of someone far from ordinary.
Evelyn knew this too, but Nathaniel's radio silence was driving her nuts. "So, what do you think he's up to?"
"Chill out; he's probably just waiting for us to drop our guard," Dermot said.
Evelyn thought about it and had to agree. Nathaniel wasn't dumb; he had to know they were all on high alert.
She slumped back on the sofa, feeling bored out of her mind. "I haven't been to the hospital lately, just sitting around waiting for him to make a move. It's so dull."
"If you ask me, you should just go about your business. As long as everything's set up here, it's cool. With you hanging around, he might be too spooked to act," Dermot suggested.
Evelyn mulled it over and saw the logic. "You're right. I'll head back to work at the hospital tomorrow."
"Yeah, don't sweat it. This is our turf. Nathaniel's got no chance of taking anyone from here," Dermot reassured her.
Evelyn nodded, leaning on Dermot's shoulder, feeling a bit worn out.
She really hoped this whole mess would blow over soon so she could get back to a normal life.
The next day, Evelyn went back to the hospital.
But Nathaniel still didn't make a move, keeping everyone on edge, trying to figure out his game plan.
In the days that followed, Evelyn went about her usual routine. If it weren't for seeing Bella at home every day and knowing Nathaniel was still lurking in Golombia, she might've forgotten all about him.
Nathaniel finally got tired of waiting. While Evelyn was in the middle of another surgery, things started to stir at Kyte Manor.
Evelyn, deep in surgery, had no clue what was going down. Even if she did, she couldn't just drop everything and rush back.
But everything at Kyte Manor was set up tight, so she wasn't too worried.
When she finally got out of the operating room and got a call from Blake, she quickly changed out of her scrubs and rushed home.
This time, the Kyte family took a big hit, and Evelyn finally got what Nathaniel had been scheming during his radio silence.
