Chapter 861 You Can't Force Them

After chatting for a bit, the three of them got up and headed to the parking lot. Aidan told Evelyn to wait while he and Joshua went to get the car.

On the way, Aidan shot Joshua a look. "I brought you back to win Evelyn over, not to spill secrets in front of her."

Joshua shrugged. "I didn't know you hadn't told her. It was a big deal back then; I figured she knew."

"I don't want her to know," Aidan snapped.

"Alright, I won't bring it up again," Joshua didn't think much of it. He understood why Aidan wanted to keep it under wraps.

Seeing Joshua wasn't trying to cause trouble, Aidan changed the subject. "So, how's it going? Evelyn doesn't seem that into you."

"Yeah, you're right," Joshua admitted. He wasn't about to lie. Evelyn hadn't warmed up to him, and he wasn't as confident as he used to be.

Aidan felt his temper rising. "What do you mean by that?"

"Evelyn's already turned me down. She said she sees me as family," Joshua said, feeling a bit hurt. If he hadn't turned down her confession back then, things might be different now.

Aidan stared at him, stunned. "So, you're just giving up?"

"Of course not, but I have to take it slow. You know Evelyn's personality. If I push too hard, she'll only resent me more," Joshua explained.

They both knew this was true.

Aidan felt frustrated and started to doubt if bringing Joshua back was the right move. If Evelyn really didn't like him, what was the point?

Sensing Aidan's thoughts, Joshua patted his shoulder. "These things depend on fate; you can't force them."

That was particularly true when it came to Evelyn.

"Fate?" Aidan muttered, then sighed.

"Don't overthink it. I brought Evelyn to see you today. Otherwise, she wouldn't have spent this much time with me. So, you get your role, right?" Joshua asked.

Aidan rolled his eyes. "Seriously? Do you need my help to chase a girl? Use your brain."

"I want to, but I can't find a way," Joshua replied. If it were anyone else, he could use charm or money. But with Evelyn? No way.

Even if he tried, would Evelyn agree? Obviously not.

Aidan rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. He said nothing more and led Joshua to get the car.

Evelyn was still waiting. When they drove up, she got in.

"Aidan, how's your company doing?" Evelyn asked. They hadn't talked much lately. Now that they finally met, she naturally wanted to show some concern.

Aidan nodded while driving. "Pretty good. Everything's on track. I've already contacted Niall, and he should be coming to Golombia soon."

Even though Niall's company was doing well in Moris City, both he and Evelyn were in Golombia. It made sense for him to move. Besides, Golombia had better opportunities. If Niall had big ambitions, he'd come. Better to come sooner so they could support each other.
