Chapter 49 He's Just a Jerk

Evelyn almost laughed out loud, but she held it in and pretended to be sad as she said, "Yes, he's just a scumbag!"

"He hurt you?" Dermot's gaze changed slightly, wishing he could beat the other guy up.

"Yes," Evelyn nodded slowly. "I was married to him for two years, and he never came to see me once. Do you think he's a jerk?"

"A jerk!" Dermot gritted his teeth, furious. "Who is he?"

It's you, Dermot!

Evelyn fought back a smile and shook her head, "Forget it, it's all in the past. I just don't want anything to do with that person in the future."

Seeing her say this, Dermot didn't want to press further, but he couldn't help but hold a grudge against the jerk. "Don't be too kind to scumbags. If you can't do it, I can help you."

As soon as the words left his mouth, he realized that Evelyn was looking at him. He felt embarrassed and explained, "I'm just helping you because you saved Cassie's life. As you said, Cassie's illness could relapse at any time."

After hearing what he said, Evelyn thought it made sense. After all, Dermot was willing to do anything for Cassie. Helping someone who might be able to save Cassie in the future wasn't unreasonable.

"It's better if it's impossible. Frankly, I'm not interested in you either," Evelyn said.

Dermot was filled with anger, but he remembered what he had just said and had to suppress his anger.

"While our relationship is average, I did help you last night. Is your attitude appropriate?" His low voice sounded, and he looked at Evelyn coldly, unable to help but curse her in his heart.

"I told you, I don't like people with the last name Doyle." She spoke again, with a serious face, not joking at all.

Dermot's face turned dark and ugly. "If you don't give me a good reason today, you know the consequences."

At this moment, Dermot exuded an intimidating aura. He didn't ask for the reason last time, but this time he would ask until he got an answer.

Evelyn had no intention of hiding anything and said directly, "My ex-husband's last name is Doyle, so I don't have a good impression of people with the last name Doyle."

"I..." Dermot was almost out of breath. Did she really hate all Doyles just because her ex-husband's last name was Doyle? Wasn't that stereotyping?

He was annoyed and his tone became unfriendly, "Is that so? Miss Kyte seems to be tarring all Doyles with the same brush."

After knowing her name was Evelyn, he should have called her Dr. Kyte, but he changed and called her Miss Kyte.

"Maybe," Evelyn shrugged and didn't care. "But I just don't like them. What can I do?"

Without giving Dermot a chance to speak, she said, "Mr. Doyle, do you still have something to do? If not, please leave. I have to go to work and don't have time to entertain you."

This woman changed her mind faster than turning a page, and Dermot witnessed it completely.

He looked at her coldly and left without staying any longer.

If he ever bothered with this woman again, he wouldn't use the last name Doyle!

But...

As soon as he walked out of the door, he felt that something was wrong.

Married for two years and never saw her?

He seemed to treat his ex-wife the same way...
