Chapter 366 I Can Take on Two
The atmosphere suddenly became awkward, and Dermot walked over to sit on the couch, appearing somewhat exhausted.
But to Evelyn, it seemed like he was angry.
She cautiously approached him and chuckled, "I was originally going to have dinner with Marina, but unexpectedly, she met her blind date at the restaurant and went with him."
"Mhm," he replied with no change in his mood.
This actually made Evelyn even more uneasy. She sat beside Dermot and continued explaining, "I had dinner with Greg. I was just trying to gather some information from him, I have absolutely no interest in him."
Dermot glanced at her and then smiled, "Do you think I'll get angry?"
"You won't?" Evelyn looked at him, somewhat surprised.
Dermot embraced her, greedily inhaling her scent, which improved his irritated mood. "I know you're not interested in him, so I'm not angry."
Evelyn sighed in relief, "That's good."
"But in the future, try to minimize your contact with him. After all, you know his intentions are impure. In case he tries something with you, I'm afraid I won't be able to reach you in time," he said, looking at her with a serious expression.
Evelyn nodded but joked, "Don't worry, with him, I can take on two."
She couldn't help but laugh at her words, "What if he gathers a group of people to attack you?" If Greg did bring a group, Evelyn wouldn't stand a chance. She believed Greg wouldn't do such a thing, after all, her grandfather had told her that the Hamilton family was trustworthy.
But she didn't tell Dermot that it would be better not to defend Greg at this time, to avoid any misunderstanding. Leaning against Dermot's embrace, Evelyn felt comforted and fell asleep without realizing it.
Dermot lowered his head and looked at the woman sleeping in his arms, feeling a mix of amusement and sadness.
After a while, he gently carried her and walked towards the bedroom. After placing her on the bed, Dermot stood by the bedside for a long time, deep in thought, his face unusually solemn.
"Evey, I am different from Greg," he whispered softly, then turned and left the bedroom.
Dermot left Evelyn's house but didn't return to his own house across the street; instead, he left Barberts Apartment. Dermot's unexpected visit to the Doyle Mansion at this time surprised Grandpa Doyle.
"Something wrong?" Grandpa Doyle looked at him, looking somewhat weary.
"Did you tell something to the Hamilton family?" Dermot was not a fool, and he suspected that Greg must have known something for him to suddenly show up.
Grandpa Doyle didn't want to hide anything anymore. He nodded, "Yes, I told that old man."
"Why would you do that?" Dermot didn't understand why, after all these years, Grandpa Doyle suddenly wanted to tell an outsider.
Grandpa Doyle sighed, "You are my only grandson, and I don't want anything to happen to you."
Dermot didn't understand the meaning behind Grandpa Doyle's words, and he continued to explain, "Since you fell in love with Evelyn, she has been in danger multiple times, and I regret letting you fall for her."
"What does that have to do with you telling the Hamilton family?" Dermot still didn't understand. His love for Evelyn and his willingness to give were his own choices.
"By involving the Hamilton family, I wanted to attract the attention of those people in Colombia. As long as they notice Evelyn, they will discover her true identity," Grandpa Doyle said directly.
