Chapter 866 Maybe I'll be the Final Winner

"Can I stay?" Lucia asked Wade, her voice trembling.

Wade looked at her, then shook his head. "You chose to leave before. Stay away and don't come back."

Lucia was at a loss for words and didn't know what to say for a moment.

If she had analyzed earlier why Wade wouldn't let her leave, she wouldn't have insisted on leaving.

What a pity! She hadn't figured it out and just felt hopeless staying there at that time.

Lucia bit her lip, deciding to take a gamble.

"In that case, sorry to bother you." She grabbed her luggage and turned to leave.

Seeing her really leave like that, Wade was a bit stunned. He thought Lucia would beg him, but she actually just left.

Was it what she called liking him?

Lucia walked off, muttering to herself. If Wade got close, he'd hear her counting. She wanted to see how far she'd get before he asked her to stay.

She counted, "Seventy-seven, seventy-eight..."

"Stop!" Wade's voice rang out. Lucia couldn't help but smile; Dora was right.

Lucia turned, feigning confusion. "Is there something else?"

"You're just leaving like that?" Wade asked.

"Yeah, you refused me. What else can I do but leave?" Lucia replied.

Wade was annoyed. He felt manipulated, but he dismissed the thought at once. How could Lucia manipulate him? It had been his decision all along.

After a moment of silence, Wade finally said, "Get back in here!"

Lucia smiled, pulling her luggage back and following Wade into the villa.

Back in the familiar place, Lucia's mindset was completely different this time.

She thought, 'Maybe I'll be the final winner.'

In the following days, Evelyn didn't meet with Dermot, even though he called every day. Even if she didn't answer, he kept calling, seemingly testing her resolve.

Evelyn found it annoying but hadn't made up her mind, so she ignored the calls.

At Doyle Manor, Dermot looked at his phone. The familiar automated voice told him Evelyn still wasn't answering.

He sighed, feeling a bit helpless.

"Mr. Doyle, Otis said his new horse farm is opening today and invited you," Todd said, walking in. Dermot had transferred him to the Doyle Group and was still his assistant.

Dermot's eyes flickered. "Has it finally come?"

He had been waiting for this day. He thought they would have acted sooner, but they had been patient, only moving now.

"Mr. Doyle, they don't seem to have good intentions. I'm worried there might be danger," Todd said, frowning. Since Dermot joined the Doyle family, this was the first time Otis had invited him to a gathering, which seemed odd.

Dermot wasn't surprised. He smiled. "There will definitely be danger; it's just a matter of who ends up dead."

They had planned against him, and so did he.

"Inform Joshua to start the operation. If he can't get it done, he'll face the consequences," Dermot said.
