Chapter 692 Shameless
Chapter 692: Shameless
"Who knows," Dermot scoffed, clearly not believing it.
Evelyn's tone made Dermot uncomfortable, causing her face to darken slightly. "Dermot, you must realize that we are now partners. I am not your subordinate, and you have no authority to act superior in my presence."
Seeing her anger, Dermot frowned slightly. "I'm just reminding you not to get too close to the other members of the Doyle family. They approach you with ulterior motives."
"That's none of your concern. After all, we're not that familiar with each other," Evelyn glanced at him indifferently.
Dermot was infuriated. He sneered, "That's right, considering you have many men around you, you might not even fancy Jeffery."
At these words, Evelyn's already unpleasant expression grew even darker. She looked up and stared directly at Dermot. "Are you dissatisfied with the men around me? Or do you wish to become one of them?"
"Shameless," Dermot muttered under his breath.
"Just mind your own business. As for me, I don't need your concern," Evelyn couldn't be bothered to explain to him.
Dermot also sneered, his words laced with sarcasm. "Concern for you? You really think highly of yourself."
"Goodbye, and don't let the door hit you on the way out," Evelyn was angry and didn't want to see Dermot at all.
How could he be so obnoxious? His words were simply too harsh.
Being driven away by Evelyn, Dermot's face turned unpleasant. "Who said I was leaving?"
"If you're not leaving, are you planning to stay here and sleep with me?" Evelyn glared at him, thinking that Dermot seemed out of his mind tonight.
She saw Dermot raise an eyebrow and deliberately smile. "Are you that casual?"
"Dermot! Get out!" Evelyn pointed to the door. She was really infuriated by him.
Seeing her visibly angry, Dermot appeared slightly relieved and walked towards the door with a smile. "When it comes to the Roberts family, I hope you can expedite matters and not waste anyone's time."
Evelyn opened her mouth but made no sound.
However, Dermot could still read from her lips: Get out.
He chuckled softly, finding it amusing.
Evelyn initially felt a bit frantic but soon composed herself.
She reassured herself that Dermot had been just as annoying when they first met, a fact she had always been aware of. After Dermot departed, Evelyn watched his figure fade into the distance and took a moment to regain her composure.
Approximately two hours later, the engagement party downstairs concluded, and Ruby awoke.
As she woke up, she found herself lying on an unfamiliar bed and almost instantly recalled what had happened before, which made her face pale.
After checking her body and realizing that nothing seemed to have happened, she breathed a slight sigh of relief.
Ruby came out of the bedroom and immediately understood why she was unharmed.
"Evey," she looked at Evelyn, feeling touched.
Evelyn heard the voice and looked at Ruby. "Finally awake. If you hadn't woken up soon, I would have called the doctor to check on you again."
"I'm sorry, this time it was my..."
"It's not your fault. It was the Kyte family's security that was lacking, almost causing you harm," Evelyn interrupted before Ruby could apologize.
Ruby was momentarily taken aback, but soon grasped the significance of Evelyn's words. "I must still thank you. If it weren't for your timely intervention, who knows what might have occurred."
Reflecting on the incident, she realized that the individual who had passed her the drink likely had malicious intentions. She reproached herself for being too inattentive.
