Chapter 157 Who Sent Them?

Tara Village, the village where she grew up.

Since she had a memory, she had grown up there, familiar with everything in that place.

She started learning various skills from a young age, but she didn't go to school. She followed the teachers in the village. She always thought they were amazing and knew everything.

When she was young, she didn't find anything strange. She thought other villages were the same, other children were the same.

It wasn't until she grew up, went to university in Moris City, pursued a teacher's and Ph.D., and then married Dermot, that she learned more and realized that something was off about Tara Village.

Every teacher in the village who taught her was amazing, just like Mr. Smith, who was a renowned oil painter known by everyone outside, yet he chose to stay in that village and be her teacher. There must be a reason for this, but Evelyn didn't know the specifics.

She had asked her grandfather before, but he didn't give her an answer, only telling her not to think so much and that she would know when the time came.

"Evelyn?"

Dermot had been waiting for Evelyn to speak but seeing her lost in thought. He couldn't help but call out.

Evelyn recovered, looked at him and said, "My grandfather arranged many teachers for me since I was young. Even though I grew up in the countryside, I learned a lot."

She didn't explain clearly, as she didn't want too many people to know about the unique Tara Village.

"I see. It seems like your grandfather treated you well." To be able to teach Evelyn so well and hire those teachers, her grandfather couldn't be ordinary people.

Evelyn chuckled playfully, saying, "I only realized it was good after growing up. When I was young, I thought he was too strict."

Thinking back to her childhood, Evelyn felt that she had little happiness. Every day, she would rush back and forth between different teachers' homes without any time to rest.

She had complained and pissed off, refusing to study, but her grandfather was persistent, so she ultimately accepted the arrangement.

Now she realized that her grandfather had really been looking out for her.

"That's true," Dermot agreed, nodding. "When I was a child, my grandfather also forced me to learn this and that. I even ran away from home once."

"Really?" Evelyn was surprised. "I never did that."

The two of them laughed and talked, having the most peaceful conversation they had had since they first met.

Rat tat. The sound of the door interrupted them.

Evelyn walked over and opened the door, unsurprised to see Todd. "Mr. Angelo."

"Ms. Kyte," Todd nodded, but curiosity burned inside him. "Is Mr. Doyle here?"

He had received a message from Dermot, knowing that he was at Evelyn's house. For this reason, he had waited downstairs for more than half an hour before coming up, creating enough time for his own CEO.

"Hmm," Evelyn stepped to the side, and Todd immediately saw Dermot in the living room.

Dermot stood up and walked to the door, saying to Evelyn, "I apologize for the disturbance tonight."

"Never mind" Evelyn shook her head, thinking that it was okay, having known Dermot for a long time and finding him not as annoying as before.

Of course, that was all.

"Time to go." Dermot walked out of Evelyn's room Just a few steps later, he turned back to her and said, "If there's anything wrong, come find me."

Evelyn paused, seeming to understand something. "Okay."

Taking the keys from Todd's hand, Dermot opened the door and walked into his own house, while Evelyn's expression became slightly grave after closing the door.

She wasn't stupid; she already knew why Dermot didn't return to Doyle Manor. Besides not wanting to worry Grandpa Doyle, he also stayed here to protect her.

Those people...
