Chapter 1193: I Have Only One Request
Evelyn tried to chill out, but she just couldn't shake off the jitters. Better safe than sorry, right? She didn't want anyone on her team getting hurt.
After a few days of calm, Nathaniel had to bounce from Seabrook City for work. Evelyn saw this as their golden ticket.
But Nathaniel wasn't born yesterday. He knew Evelyn and Blake were still lurking around Seabrook City, plotting to snatch Bella. No way he was leaving Bella behind.
"Pack your stuff. You're coming with me on this trip tomorrow," Nathaniel ordered.
Bella blinked, totally caught off guard. "This is the first time you're dragging me along. Why now?"
"Do I need to spell it out for you?" Nathaniel shot back, his tone icy. No love lost there.
But if he didn't care about her, why not just let her go?
Bella bit her lip, looking down. "You've kept me locked up in Seabrook City 'cause it's your turf. No one messes with you here. But taking me out? Aren't you scared we'll get jumped?"
Nathaniel had a ton of enemies. In Seabrook City, he was untouchable. Outside? Not so much.
He kept Bella in Seabrook City to protect her and keep her under his thumb. As long as she was here, she couldn't run.
"Sounds like you don't wanna go," Nathaniel said, his voice cold.
Bella didn't deny it. "Being around you is a death wish. I kinda wanna live a bit longer."
"I thought you were done with life," Nathaniel sneered.
Bella bit her lip harder. Before she met Evelyn and Blake, she had given up. But now, she had a sliver of hope. Dying now would suck.
Nathaniel seemed to read her mind. He grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him. "Bella, still hoping Blake will save you? As long as I'm breathing, you're not escaping."
Bella stayed silent.
This only pissed Nathaniel off more. He hated her dead-inside look.
After mulling it over, Nathaniel realized taking Bella might be a bad move. If he took her out of Seabrook City, Blake would pounce. Outside, he didn't have his usual muscle, and things could get messy.
After some back-and-forth in his head, he called Oscar over.
"What do you want?" Oscar grumbled, clearly annoyed.
Nathaniel, trying to keep it cool, softened his tone. "You're not a kid anymore. Time to step up."
Oscar looked confused.
Nathaniel laid it out. "I gotta leave Seabrook City for a few days. You're in charge. Command everyone. Just one thing."
Nathaniel's eyes turned cold. "Don't let Bella leave. Even if she dies, she dies in Seabrook City!"
