Chapter 1312: Why Do You Want to Leave
In no time, Dermot's car rolled up to the villa.
He walked into the living room and saw Evelyn and Ava sitting on opposite ends of the couch. Instantly, he felt a headache coming on.
"Evelyn, what brings you back today?" Dermot asked, trying to sound casual but feeling anything but.
If he'd known she was coming back, he would've been at the airport to whisk her away to the new place. Now she's here, and she's seen Ava.
Evelyn's face darkened at his question. "If I hadn't come back today, would I have found out about all this behind my back?"
"Evelyn, it's not what you think. I was planning a surprise."
"Surprise? Yeah, some surprise." Evelyn sneered, shooting a glance at Ava.
Ava, still glued to her phone, chimed in, "Ms. Kyte, you've got it all wrong. Dermot hasn't done anything shady. He just let me crash here, he..."
"Shut up!" Dermot snapped, feeling the urge to punch something.
Ava just pouted, unfazed by his outburst.
Dermot turned back to Evelyn. "Evelyn, let's get out of here."
"Leave? Why should I leave?" Evelyn couldn't believe what she was hearing.
Dermot saw she was getting the wrong idea again and quickly said, "I bought a new house, so I let her stay here. It's not what you think."
Evelyn frowned, and Dermot continued, "I got this place because you moved in with Joshua, and I wanted to be closer to you. But this spot is a pain for both our commutes, so I've been thinking about moving."
"Since we're getting married, I set up a new house. I wanted to surprise you when you got back, but I didn't expect..."
He didn't expect her to come back so suddenly, catching him off guard.
Evelyn started to get it, but she was still uneasy. "Even if we're moving, she shouldn't be living here."
She knew exactly what kind of history Ava and Dermot had.
Before Dermot could say more, Ava butted in again, "Ms. Kyte, don't worry. I'm not trying to mess with your relationship. I just moved to Golombia and had nowhere to stay. Dermot was just being nice. He loves you a lot."
Evelyn felt a surge of anger at Ava's casual tone.
‘Do I need you to tell me if Dermot loves me or not?' she thought.
Dermot and Evelyn left the villa, got in the car, and drove off.
On the way to the new house, Dermot explained Ava's situation and then said seriously, "Evelyn, I don't have feelings for her anymore."
"Who knows?" Evelyn muttered, staring out the window.
Dermot's explanation made sense, but only a little.
If he didn't care about Ava, why go out of his way to help her?
"Evelyn, trust me. I just thought since we're moving and won't be living there anymore, I'd let her stay. No other reason." If he had any other intentions, he wouldn't have let Ava stay there.
Evelyn kept snorting, not saying a word.
Dermot felt like crying, realizing for the first time that Evelyn could get jealous.
