Chapter 946: Leave It to Me
"Of course, you're defending him; you're his friend," Evelyn said, rolling her eyes. She didn't really dislike Craig; she just thought he wasn't right for Ruby.
Dermot had mentioned that Craig's upbringing made him bad at loving someone. If that's true, he should learn how to love first and then come back for Ruby. Hanging onto her now was pointless.
"It's normal. You want Ruby happy, and I want Craig happy. Neither of us is wrong," Dermot said, feeling loyal to Craig.
Evelyn agreed. "Don't worry, I'm just letting them hang out. If Ruby really likes Craig, she won't fall for Alex."
"Yeah," Dermot nodded, but he wasn't convinced. Maybe Ruby didn't like Alex now, but what if they spent more time together? Who could guarantee she wouldn't change her mind?
But that was their business. If Ruby ended up liking Alex, it just meant she and Craig weren't meant to be. Nothing he could do about it.
After lunch, Dermot drove Evelyn back to the hospital for her shift. On the way, Evelyn texted Ruby, asking her to invite Alex to dinner, but Ruby didn't have Alex's contact info.
Evelyn sighed and decided to find Alex's contact herself, hoping he would agree because of Ruby.
After chatting with Ruby, the car stopped at the hospital entrance. "We're here."
"Thanks," Evelyn said, about to open the door.
"Did you arrange it with Ruby?" Dermot asked, seeing her texting.
Evelyn nodded. "But she doesn't have Alex's contact, so I have to reach out myself."
"You have his contact?" Dermot frowned. When did Evelyn get in touch with Alex?
Evelyn laughed. "After I heard he was Ruby's classmate, I got his info."
For Ruby's happiness, she was willing to go all out.
Dermot's face darkened. "You don't need to contact him. I'll do it."
"You?" Evelyn was surprised. Could Dermot really get in touch with him?
"Go to work. Leave it to me," Dermot said. He didn't want Evelyn contacting other men, even for Ruby.
Seeing his confidence, Evelyn didn't argue. "I'll go to work then. Drive safe."
Dermot nodded. "Okay, I'll pick you up after work."
Watching Evelyn walk into the hospital until she was out of sight, Dermot started the car and headed to the Doyle Group.
The Doyle Group had changed a lot since Dermot first arrived. With Gerald's death and Otis's arrest, the company felt gloomy.
But Dermot didn't care. He was actually pleased. The Doyle Group wasn't his anymore, so it didn't affect him.
He wouldn't help fix the issues; he'd make the Doyle family suffer more. Only then would Randy make the right decision.
