Chapter 1308: Sweet as Honey

An hour later, Evelyn was sprawled out on the bed, shooting a playful glare at Dermot. "This is all your fault. Now I haven't even had dinner."

"Chill, babe. I'll whip something up right now." Dermot rolled out of bed, threw on some clothes, and headed downstairs to the kitchen.

Evelyn's words were more teasing than anything. She wasn't really mad, just a bit flustered.

She never imagined she'd be living this kind of life with Dermot.

After lounging around for a bit, she hit the shower before making her way downstairs.

By the time she got to the kitchen, Dermot was already in full chef mode. Watching him cook so effortlessly, it was hard to believe that just a little while ago, he was in bed with her.

"Hang tight, dinner's almost ready." Luckily, Evelyn had prepped the ingredients earlier, so Dermot just had to cook, speeding things up a lot.

Evelyn leaned against the kitchen door, watching him, thinking how wild and fun life had become.

Ten minutes later, Dermot had the food on the table and called Evelyn over.

They dug in, and the food was as good as ever. Evelyn joked, "If the Doyle Group ever tanks, you could totally open a restaurant."

"Making the Doyle Group go under? That's a tall order." Dermot said, knowing full well it was nearly impossible under his watch.

Evelyn saw that unshakeable confidence in his eyes, something she always admired.

"So, how long's this business trip?" Dermot asked, a bit bummed.

Evelyn took a bite before answering, "A week."

"Cool, that won't mess with the wedding plans then." Dermot figured a week was no biggie.

Evelyn nodded. "Yeah, I checked. If it was longer, I wouldn't have gone."

"How many folks from your hospital are going?" Dermot asked, still concerned.

Evelyn thought for a sec. "Probably one from each department."

"They got your accommodations sorted?" Even though Dermot was the big boss at Golombia Hospital, he didn't really handle the day-to-day stuff.

Evelyn shrugged. "They should. No need to stress about it."

She felt Dermot was worrying too much; the hospital would handle it.

Dermot let it go. "Alright, just take care and call me if you need anything."

Even if she was abroad, he'd be there in a heartbeat.

"Got it, no worries," Evelyn said, appreciating his concern.

After dinner, they had another round of fun in bed before finally crashing.

The plane took off at nine in the morning. Dermot took Evelyn to the airport, watched her board, and disappear from sight.

Moments later, he pulled out his phone. "You can start moving now."

Evelyn had no clue that when she got back, a huge surprise would be waiting for her.

But Dermot didn't see it coming that his little surprise would turn into a shocker, almost messing up their wedding plans.

After the call, Dermot left the airport. He had to get back to work. There were still tons of wedding details that needed his attention. Planning a wedding was way more complicated than he thought.

But he was loving every minute of it.
