Chapter 274 What's Wrong with Me?
Dermot's face instantly turned dark as he complained to Evelyn, "Then why can't you be one of them?"
"I don't have the ability to support you," Evelyn shook her head, holding back a smile.
Dermot didn't say anything else. He felt like he had done his best. It's said that men are straightforward, but he felt that Evelyn was even more straightforward than him.
After finishing breakfast, Evelyn got up to go to the hospital. Dermot wanted to accompany her, but she refused.
In Evelyn's own words, their relationship hadn't reached that point yet. It was fine to have breakfast together every day, but if they started giving and receiving rides every day, what would others think?
Dermot was even more frustrated, "Then can't you give me a title?"
Evelyn was confused.
"Let me be your boyfriend. Isn't that enough for our relationship?" Dermot said, looking at Evelyn with anticipation.
Without any hesitation, Evelyn shook her head, cleared her throat, and said seriously, "Although I don't hate you as much as before, I still don't think it's right for you to be my boyfriend."
"Why? What's wrong with me?" Dermot questioned, seeming to want a clear answer.
This made Evelyn unsure of how to express herself. If she really had to say it, everything about Dermot was perfect. If it were anyone else, they would probably wake up laughing to have such a boyfriend.
But Evelyn didn't think that way.
Dermot was excellent, but she believed she was not inferior. She wouldn't give him special treatment just because he was the President of the Doyle Group.
Although she had been getting along with Dermot decently during this time, Evelyn just didn't feel like they were at the level of being a couple.
As for what was missing, Evelyn couldn't even pinpoint it herself.
Feeling Dermot's gaze, Evelyn felt a little guilty. "I'm going to be late for work. Let's talk about this next time."
After saying that, Evelyn quickly left as if escaping, leaving Dermot alone in place.
As she walked away, Dermot could only smile helplessly, realizing that he had no way to deal with her.
"Alright, I'll keep trying. I don't believe your heart is made of iron," Dermot muttered to himself, refusing to give up because of Evelyn's words.
On the way to the hospital, Evelyn sat in the taxi, talking on the phone with Ruby.
"I actually think Dermot is not bad. Look at how much effort he has put in to pursue you. Compared to others, not many people have this kind of patience," Ruby used to dislike Dermot, but during these days, she couldn't help but be moved by what Dermot has done.
Moreover, compared to Craig, Dermot is simply a great guy.
Thinking of Craig, Ruby's mood sank a bit.
Evelyn understood what Ruby was saying, but she always felt that it wasn't to that extent. "I just feel like something is missing. I admit that he is good to me, but I don't have that special feeling of wanting to be with him."
"Oh, then I guess it's because you actually don't like him and don't have that kind of feeling for him," Ruby made a judgment.
There is a big difference between liking and not liking. When you like someone, you can't wait to confirm the relationship with them and want the whole world to know.
But not like...
It's like Evelyn's current mindset, not repelling Dermot's closeness, but not thinking about taking it further.
Not liking him?
In fact, Evelyn doesn't really understand what it means to like someone. She has only had one relationship in college, but it ended without any progress.
As for Dermot...
It seems that she can't really say she likes him. At most, she feels a little attracted.
Especially... Evelyn thought of the kiss from that man, and her heart inexplicably started beating faster.
