Chapter 1343 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (18)
Phoebe was feeling all kinds of awkward and a bit down.
I mean, Aidan totally blew her off last night. They didn't even need to say it out loud; it was just this unspoken thing between them. They both knew what was up.
Aidan strolled into the living room. Phoebe was munching on breakfast. She saw him and, trying to keep it cool, said, "Grab some breakfast before you head out."
"Nah, I'll eat at work." And with that, Aidan was out the door.
Phoebe just stood there, lost in her thoughts, eyes all shiny with unshed tears.
She knew she might've been a bit too forward last night, but she didn't think it was enough to make Aidan dodge her like this.
Truth is, she was overthinking it. Aidan wasn't avoiding her; he was just too embarrassed to face her because of that dream.
But Phoebe didn't know that, so she figured Aidan was straight-up avoiding her.
Maybe it was her illness, but Phoebe's mind was all over the place. She wanted to be with Aidan, but her fragile ego held her back. Now that Aidan was dodging her, she decided to ignore him too.
They stayed in this weird standoff until Saturday. The next day was Theodore's baby shower. Aidan had everything set up at the hotel and was ready to go over the details with Phoebe.
He got home early that day. Phoebe was just having dinner. She was a bit surprised to see him but didn't bother to start a conversation.
Aidan walked over, sat across from her, and asked the servant to bring him some utensils.
"Tomorrow's Theodore's baby shower. I've got almost everything sorted. Check if there's anything else we need." Aidan handed her the tablet, showing the hotel's setup and schedule.
Phoebe glanced at it, still upset with Aidan, but she had to admit his arrangements were spot on.
"Looks good. I don't have anything to add." Phoebe said, poking at her food.
Aidan took back the tablet, nodded, and started eating. They both stayed quiet, not saying a word.
After a bit, Aidan noticed something was off. "You seem down. What's up?"
"I'm fine. You're just imagining things." Phoebe kept eating, feeling a bit bitter inside.
She didn't know whether to be happy or sad that Aidan actually noticed her mood. It was a rare thing.
But so what if he noticed? He didn't have feelings for her.
With that thought, the tiny thrill in her heart faded.
Aidan wasn't one to make things awkward for himself. He could tell Phoebe didn't want to talk, so he just let it be.
So, they finished their dinner in silence, barely interacting.
After dinner, the nanny brought Theodore down. Aidan played with him for a bit before heading to his room. Phoebe had already gone back to her room after dinner and didn't play with Theodore.
Aidan could tell something was up with her, but he didn't plan on getting involved. Even though they had a baby and were living together, they didn't really have a relationship. He had no right to meddle in Phoebe's business.
Good thing Phoebe didn't know what he was thinking. If she did, she'd probably be hurt for a long time.
