Chapter 1388 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (63)
Hearing that Aidan wasn't just thinking about himself but also considering her and Theodore, Phoebe suddenly felt her anger dissipate. She looked at Aidan and could imagine how difficult things must be for him.
Sighing, she said, "Even so, you should have told me directly. Do you think I would blame you?" She just didn't want to feel deceived.
"I was afraid you'd overthink it," Aidan replied.
Phoebe looked at him with a slight smile. "Overthink what? Why would you be afraid I'd overthink? We don't seem to have any relationship right now, do we?"
Despite the previous ambiguity between Aidan and Phoebe, neither had confessed their feelings, so technically, they had no relationship.
Aidan was willing to explain, but if he hadn't been, Phoebe knew she had no right to demand an explanation.
"Phoebe, give me some more time. Let me deal with the Lowe family first." It wasn't that he didn't want to confess his feelings to her; he just didn't dare to.
As long as the Lowe family issues remained unresolved, it was like a sword hanging over his head. In such a situation, if he were to be with Phoebe and something went wrong, the consequences would be unbearable for them So, he had to endure a bit longer, at least until he resolved the matter.
Phoebe understood what Aidan meant, but she wasn't sure and asked, " You mean once you deal with the Lowe family, you'll confess to me?"
The question was blunt, but at this point, she didn't want to continue playing guessing games with Aidan. It was better to be straightforward so everyone could be at ease. Mainly, so she could be at ease.
"Yes," Aidan didn't deny it because that was indeed his plan.
Phoebe felt a bit unreal. She thought Aidan wouldn't answer the question directly and was even prepared for him to change the subject. She didn't expect to actually hear this from him. Maybe she was too happy; she even forgot what to say next.
Seeing her silent, Aidan quickly added, "If you're not willing, I can wait."
He knew he had wronged Phoebe before, so she might be somewhat resentful. Therefore, he was willing to be the proactive one now.
"I am willing." Phoebe nodded repeatedly, wishing Aidan would confess right then and there. She had waited so long.
Aidan smiled, seemingly unsurprised by this outcome. He knew Phoebe liked him. From their interactions, it was clear that she never held a grudge against him, even when he had initially rejected her and Theodore.
Phoebe asked with a genuine smile, "Why?"
"What?" Aidan didn't understand what she meant.
"Why did you suddenly start liking me? I remember you said you weren't interested in me." Although Aidan liking her was something that made her very happy, she hadn't lost her rationality.
She thought there was no hatred without reason, nor love without reason in the world. Aidan's affection for her seemed to come out of nowhere.
Aidan chuckled. "If you really want to ask me that, I honestly don't know. Maybe after spending so much time together, I realized you're not what I thought you were. You're a girl that's easy to like."
This was probably what people meant by "love grows over time."
Phoebe was also surprised. When Evelyn suggested she move into Aidan's house to increase their feelings and said they might fall in love over time, she didn't believe it. She thought such a thing would never happen to Aidan. But now, it seemed she didn't understand him as well as Evelyn did.
