Chapter 438 Just Playing with You

"If you were going to kill me, you would have done it regardless of whether I said anything or not." She wasn't foolish enough to be deceived by such words.

The woman chuckled, feeling that there was some truth to it. The knife continued to scrape against Evelyn's face as she seemed to ponder on what to do. "You have a nice face. I think it would look even better with a few cuts."

Evelyn remained silent but scanned the surroundings, trying to find a way to escape. Unfortunately, apart from absolute force, she really had no way to flee.

The woman raised her knife, and just when Evelyn thought she was about to be disfigured, the blade landed on her neck. A wave of pain ensued, and she could feel the blood flowing, but it wasn't severe.

In a place unseen by Evelyn, the woman took out a small bottle to collect the blood that had flowed out. After properly placing the bottle, she grinned at Evelyn. "In that moment just now, did you think you were going to die?"

"What exactly do you want?" Clearly, the woman didn't intend to kill her; otherwise, she would have done it already. But... Evelyn didn't recognize this person.

The woman smiled and had no intention of leaving. "Don't worry, I'm just here to play with you."

Just as those words fell, footsteps could be heard at the door. The woman instantly became alert, pulling Evelyn up and placing the knife against her neck.

The person at the door entered and was shocked at the sight. “Let her go!”

"Who are you to her?" the woman asked with a smile, seemingly interested in this sudden appearance of a man.

Dermot's face darkened. He could never have imagined that he would come to see where Evelyn was staying and witness this scene. Dermot didn’t know who the woman was, but he knew she wasn’t easy to deal with.

After all, he was familiar with Evelyn’s skills. “I’m her boyfriend?”

"Boyfriend?" The woman raised an eyebrow, her gaze shifting between Dermot's face and then landing on Evelyn's. "Quite a match."

"What do you want? Let her go, and I can agree to your request." Dermot spoke again, not knowing how Evelyn had offended the other party.

The woman didn't answer but instead walked towards Dermot with Evelyn. When they reached Dermot, she pushed Evelyn into his arms and quickly ran off, saying, “I won't play with you anymore, see you next time.”

Dermot didn't chase after her but immediately looked at Evelyn, especially the bloodstain on her neck.

“Don't move, I'll take you to the hospital,” he said. He tried to lift her up, but Evelyn refused.

“I'm fine, just a small wound.”

The woman didn't really use any force; besides a few drops of blood, she had no other injuries. But it was precisely because of this that Evelyn couldn't make sense of it. What was going on? The other party didn't intend to kill her or harm her. Evelyn had a headache, and Dermot held her in his arms.

“As long as you're okay," he said. This sudden embrace left Evelyn bewildered, smelling the woody fragrance emanating from Dermot, feeling strangely familiar. She quickly came to her senses and pushed him away.

“Why are you here?”

Dermot cleared his throat and said seriously, “I'm here on a business trip, staying at this hotel, coincidentally ran into you.”

Evelyn rolled her eyes at him, as if to say, 'Do you really think I believe you?' Dermot took out a room card from his bag and handed it to Evelyn,

“You're next door.” Evelyn clicked her tongue; it was the room right next to her. So Dermot had just passed by here and noticed something was wrong? Should she say that she and Dermot were destined, or that she was lucky?
