Chapter 1185: Think of More Ways

Oscar stormed off, fuming. Whether he got what Bella was saying or not, who knows?

Just as Bella let out a sigh of relief, Nathaniel came stomping up the stairs. Before she could even react, he had her by the neck. "Did you see Blake? Did he touch you?"

Turns out, Nathaniel did care. In his twisted mind, Bella was his wife, and no one else could lay a finger on her, love or not.

On the way back, he was dead silent, scheming how to make Bella pay for seeing another guy behind his back.

After mulling it over, he figured a good beating would do the trick.

"Let go of me!" Bella tried to shove him off but no dice. "Nathaniel, you're nuts!"

"Yeah, didn't you know I was nuts?" Nathaniel shot back, squeezing her neck just enough to make her gasp for air.

He dragged her into the room and tossed her onto the bed. "Nathaniel! Get out!"

Even though they’d been married for years, they always slept in separate rooms.

"Get out? You're my wife. Why can't I sleep with you?" Nathaniel pinned her down. No matter how much Bella fought, he was hell-bent on having his way.

Bella fought like mad, but it only got her another beating. She couldn't escape her fate.

Even though they’d been in separate rooms for years, this wasn’t the first time Nathaniel forced himself on her.

Many times, she thought about ending it all, but she couldn’t bring herself to leave this world.

To be real, it was her love for Evelyn and Blake that kept her going.

One was the man she loved most, and the other was her daughter. Whenever she felt like giving up, she thought of them.

Whenever Nathaniel assaulted her, Bella's mind would drift to thoughts of Evelyn and Blake. She had to convince herself that he was just a tool. It was the only way she could survive the overwhelming shame.

Blake hadn’t slept a wink all night, racking his brain on how to get Bella out. But he was still coming up empty.

When Evelyn woke up, she noticed her dad’s tired eyes and dark circles. "Dad, did you stay up all night?" she asked.

"How could I sleep now?" Blake sighed, wishing he could just whisk Bella away.

Evelyn walked to the dining table and started sipping her oatmeal porridge. "Don’t worry. Nathaniel’s got such a big business; there’s gotta be something shady. We just need some dirt. If we can threaten the Flores family, I bet he’d choose them over Bella."

To Nathaniel, nothing was more important than his family.

"Will it work?" Blake was a bit worried.

"It will," Evelyn said confidently. As long as they found her mom, everything would be fine.

Seeing her so sure, Blake relaxed a bit. "I'm getting old. I'm not as sharp as you with this stuff. You gotta think of more ways to help your mom."

"Yeah, I know," Evelyn replied, sipping her oatmeal porridge absentmindedly.

Blake sat across from her, looking conflicted. "Evelyn, do you not see her as your mom?"

Hearing Evelyn call her "Bella" over and over made him feel a bit uneasy.
