Chapter 845 I Promise
That night, Evelyn didn't see Peter, but she did get a call from Lucia.
She stared at her phone in confusion.
She thought, 'Why is Lucia calling me? It is weird.'
After a moment, she decided to answer it. Lucia wasn't a threat anymore, and she was curious about what Lucia had to say.
"Evelyn." Lucia's voice came through, sounding like she was on the verge of tears.
Evelyn was taken aback. "What's up?"
"I want to leave with my mom and never bother you again. Is that okay?" Lucia asked.
Evelyn chuckled. "Why do you need my permission? Go wherever you want."
But then again, she didn't have any evidence to get Dora into the police station, so it seemed she could only watch her leave.
But would Dora really leave like that?
Evelyn knew Dora well enough to know that she wouldn't be content to leave the country.
"Wade won't let me leave. He said unless you agree, he'll keep making my life miserable," Lucia cried.
Lucia wasn't usually one to cry, but thinking about her future made her feel hopeless.
Evelyn was surprised, wondering if Wade really had said that.
Before she could respond, Lucia continued, "I know I was wrong. I shouldn't have treated you that way. I'm sorry. Can you ask Wade to let me go?"
Evelyn's expression turned serious. Wade wouldn't keep Lucia just because of her. She had a vague suspicion in her heart, but she then dismissed it, feeling it was unreal. She wondered if things had really developed in that direction.
Evelyn felt a bit scared. If that were the case, should she have tried harder to stop Lucia from moving in?
Evelyn thought a lot in those two minutes. She stayed silent, and Lucia, thinking she was unwilling, pleaded again, "Evelyn, I was really wrong. I never really hurt you. Please let me go."
Evelyn realized that might be true. The people who tried to kill her were all arranged by Dora, but she didn't believe that Lucia knew nothing about it.. She felt that Lucia probably approved of Dora's actions.
So, Evelyn had no sympathy for Lucia.
"You do have a point. You haven't really harmed me," Evelyn said.
Before Lucia could speak, she continued, "Are you really decided on going abroad with Dora?"
"Yes, I promise," Lucia said quickly, thinking Evelyn doubted her.
But Evelyn didn't care about her promise. She just wanted Lucia gone before things with Wade got worse.
Wade and she were both George's students, and she hoped Wade could find happiness. But not with someone like Lucia.
"Alright then, I'll talk to him. Be ready to leave," Evelyn said. She believed Wade wouldn't refuse her request.
If he did, her worries would be confirmed.
Evelyn thought, 'Wade, please don't make a mistake.'
