Chapter 1342 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (17)
Aidan had just hopped out of the shower and was toweling off when he heard a knock at the door.
He swung it open to find Phoebe standing there, rocking a light pink nightgown.
Aidan quickly looked away and then back at her face. "Yo, what's up?"
"Uh, there's a bit of an issue," Phoebe said, looking all nervous. "The light in my room's going nuts, flickering and stuff. Can you check it out?"
"Yeah, sure." Aidan didn't hesitate. He followed her to her room.
"I don't get it. It just started flickering out of nowhere. It's kinda freaking me out," Phoebe said, standing close to Aidan, biting her lip and inching nearer.
Aidan gave the light a quick look. "Probably some electrical thing. I'll get someone to fix it tomorrow."
"Okay," Phoebe nodded.
"If you're spooked, you can crash in another room." There were plenty of empty rooms in the house for her to pick from.
Phoebe shook her head. "Nah, it's cool. I'm about to sleep anyway. I'll just turn it off."
Her voice was soft, almost a whisper, and Aidan realized she was standing super close.
A delicate scent from her made him a bit dizzy.
But even under the flickering light, Aidan's mind stayed sharp, and he could read the look in Phoebe's eyes.
"Aidan, I..." Phoebe started, but then she hesitated.
Aidan seemed to know what she was getting at and cut her off, "Get some rest."
"Aidan."
He didn't give her a chance to say more. By the time she reached out, he was already out the door, vanishing from her sight.
Phoebe's eyes dimmed instantly.
Did Aidan really dislike her that much? Why'd he bail so fast?
She smiled bitterly, remembering how Evelyn had said Aidan didn't dislike her as much anymore. Guess even Evelyn was wrong.
Looked like he still really couldn't stand her.
Aidan couldn't care less what was going through Phoebe's mind. Honestly, he didn't even think about it. All he wanted was to get out of there because his body was reacting in ways he couldn't control.
Damn it! He didn't even like Phoebe. So why was he feeling this way?
In the bathroom, cold water poured over his head, cooling his heated thoughts.
Aidan wasn't dumb. He knew Phoebe was trying to seduce him, but he still turned her down.
Even though his feelings toward Phoebe had softened a bit, it didn't mean he liked her. The only reason they had any connection was because of the baby they shared.
Beyond that, there was nothing between them, and there never would be.
After thinking it through, Aidan stepped out of the bathroom and tried to chill out.
That night, Phoebe didn't sleep well. She had a nightmare where Aidan hated her like before, kicking her out and not letting her see Theodore.
She woke up scared.
Aidan also had a dream.
But his was far from a nightmare. It was an erotic fantasy that left him shocked when he woke up.
He had that kind of dream!
And the woman in it was Phoebe?
He couldn't handle it and felt super embarrassed.
After another cold shower, he came out of his room and headed downstairs, only to find Phoebe chilling in the living room. The vivid images from his dream flashed in his mind, making it hard as hell to face her.
