Chapter 907 No Way Out
Evelyn never thought she'd see Natalie in the hospital before she could pressure the Diaz family through the Kyte family.
At this moment, Natalie's legs and arms were in casts, and she lay on the bed unable to move, staring at the ceiling.
"Is this what they call karma?" Evelyn stood by the bed. She casually glanced at the list of patients admitted today and unexpectedly saw Natalie's name.
She had to check if it was the same Natalie she knew.
And now, she saw it was really Natalie.
Evelyn wanted to laugh, so she did, without any regard for how Natalie might feel.
Natalie trembled with anger. "Evelyn!"
"Wow, you recognized my voice." Evelyn leaned in close so Natalie could see her.
Natalie gritted her teeth, wanting to slap Evelyn, but she couldn't move at all.
"Who beat you up? You look terrible," Evelyn said, wondering who did it. It was satisfying.
Natalie struggled to speak, "Don't play dumb. It was you!"
Before Evelyn arrived, Natalie had been trying to figure out who attacked her. Seeing Evelyn, she was sure it was her. In all of Golombia, only Evelyn had a grudge against her.
"You've got it wrong." Although she felt satisfied, Evelyn disdained such underhanded tactics. She'd either find evidence of Natalie's crimes and send her to jail or not bother at all.
But seeing Natalie like this was satisfying.
Natalie didn't believe her.
Evelyn didn't care. "Why hasn't Hubert come to see you? I thought you had him wrapped around your finger."
Natalie didn't respond, and Evelyn laughed more.
Evelyn heard Hubert was dating and about to get married to a lady from a prominent family. Hubert wasn't stupid; he wouldn't marry Natalie.
Natalie was angry. She thought Hubert loved her and she could marry into the Diaz family.
But Hubert made it clear he'd never marry her.
She realized that men from prominent Golombia families valued family honor more than those from smaller cities and wouldn't be swayed by love.
She regretted it but didn't know what to regret.
Even if she hadn't come to Golombia, staying in Moris City wouldn't have done her any good either.
It was all the same; she had no way out.
And she thought it was all because of Evelyn.
Her hatred for Evelyn grew. "Evelyn, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't be like this!"
"Really? I think you got what you deserved!" Evelyn wasn't swayed by Natalie's thoughts.
Feel guilty? Not a chance.
