Chapter 1203: I Know You're Capable, Alright
"Got everything set up? Need a hand?" Dermot asked, munching on the meal Evelyn brought him.
Evelyn shook her head. "Nah, I got this. If I can't handle Nathaniel in Golombia, the Kyte family wouldn't be in the top ten."
"Alright, it's your call. Just remember, if things get hairy, hit me up. I got your back." He knew better than to make decisions for her; she hated that.
Evelyn nodded and dropped the subject.
She hung out in the office for lunch with Dermot. When he got busy again, she bounced.
Todd walked in just after Evelyn left. He couldn't miss the grin still on his boss's face.
"Mr. Doyle," Todd started, "we just found out Nathaniel's on a flight to Golombia."
"Got it." Dermot's face darkened, showing he wasn't totally out of the loop. "Send some folks to the Kyte family. Let Evelyn call the shots."
Even though he said he wouldn't meddle, Dermot wasn't completely hands-off. Extra help couldn't hurt.
Todd nodded and added, "You had Jeffery and Melissa start at the company a while back. So far, the feedback's been solid."
"Good, keep an eye on them. If they show promise, give them more resources," Dermot said. Evelyn's idea was helping him manage his workload. Being swamped now was fine, but he didn't want it to be a forever thing.
Handing over the company to reliable people was the endgame.
After Todd updated him on the company's status and confirmed there were no major issues, Dermot felt a weight lift. Things were back on track, and he didn't have to be swamped every day.
As Dermot got the news that Nathaniel had landed in Golombia, Evelyn got the same scoop. So, in the afternoon, she skipped the hospital and headed straight back to the estate.
Even though she was confident in her plans, dealing with a nutjob like Nathaniel called for extra caution.
"Evelyn," Blake called her over as soon as she arrived and whispered, "Nathaniel's in Golombia. You know that, right?"
"Yeah, I got the news." She nodded, then looked at her dad with a surprised expression. "You're pretty well-informed."
"I've been running the Kyte family for decades. You think I wouldn't know this stuff?" Blake rolled his eyes. Even though he'd handed over most of the power to Evelyn, he still had his sources.
Evelyn laughed it off. "Alright, I know you're on top of things. Don't worry; I've got it covered. If Nathaniel tries anything, he won't make it back to Seabrook City."
"Yeah, I know. Just checking." Blake replied, not too worried.
While they were chatting, Bella watched them from upstairs.
She didn't know what they were talking about, but she could guess it was about Nathaniel.
By now, Nathaniel should've been back from his business trip and on his way to Golombia.
Even though Bella knew how strong the Kyte family was and how capable Evelyn was, she couldn't shake the unease as long as she was still married to Nathaniel.
